My child goes to DMS and is a very good student. We have no problems with the school but their are few things that I would like to point out. The people in the office (some) have no personalities and don't take the time to listen to what the kids need. Another pet peeve of mine is the dress code. The principal goes over the studnet handbook every year, I still see shorts and spaghetti tank-tops! Where is the principal then? Lastly, my child tells me that in gym they let them go outside when its DAMP AND DRIZZLING AND SOME KIDS HAVE ONLY A T-SHIRT ON? That rule has to be adjusted. Overall the school is not bad to attend. My daughter loved her teachers last year and is having a good year this year and has made many friends.

I do not like Dartmouth at all. We came from Westport and since we have been here my children have problems with other kids and nothing gets done about it. My kids had no peer issues in Westport.

My son is a student at DMS. I thought the school completely let him down. He passed to the next grade, but nobody seemed to care, only complain. He has an IEP and that did'nt mean anything this year. The teachers, right down to the counselors are terrible. They look at everything as behavioural, and do not know how to fix it. That school makes me cringe and I'm hoping to move to Fairhaven before school starts.

I am a parent of a child at the DMS. Many of the teachers seem competent, but I find the work is not challenging enough for my child. If your child can memorize a study guide, he/she is sure to get straight A+'s and make the principal's list. My child was challenged more in elementary school that at DMS. The music program is terrific though. The orchestra and band are phenomenal! The dress code needs to be enforced. Some of the children are extremely disrespectful to the teachers. I think some of the parents do an inadequate job at teaching manners/morals to their children.

I am a 6 th grade Student going in to 7th at Dartmouth Middle school. But I think the teachers need to be a little bit more orginized and not yell as much as they do. The office staff is ok but they need to listen to us more instead of just coming right out with an answer! Also we should be a ble to have 2 music choices I love to sing but I also have played the violin for 7 yrs. Also Media (Study Hall) should be fun not like a punishment but other than that it is a pretty Good school. -Lauren Santos

I'm a student at DMS and it's an okay school, nothing special. For students who need to be academicallly challenged, it's not really the place to be. Like other reviewers, I have to say some of the students dress a little on the disrepectful side. About 85 % of the teachers are really good, but there are a few that aren't as helpful as others. If you're an average student, you'll find the school to be just fine. However, if you would like to expand your education, you may find that DMS is a waste of three years.

The Special Education Services at the High School level are very poor. The children would be better off in a daycare! I am a parent at both middle and high school levels in Dartmouth, Ma.

I'm a student at this school and most of the teachers are very good and the students are well educated but I agree that the dress code could use some help. The after school programs are very well put together and the students are very well prepared for high school here. The parents are very involved and organize many events for the students. New students are always welcomed by the students and teachers. We also have excellent music programs. The band is preparing to be part of the high school world champiionship band. Overall this school is a great school to attend.

Good school, great principal. Needs work on dress code. Most teachers have good academic goals, all have good educational backgrounds. I have had several kids attend this school, and I am fairly satisfied-all of my kids were well prepared for high school. Better dress code and enforcement by parents and administration would be helpful.

hi, i'm a student at the dartmouth middle school.. and its a great school- the teachers (majority of them) are very very nice and well educated in their feild. The only thing is i need to correct something on this page, it says PreK-8,... that is incorrect, the school actually is only grades 6-8, i just figured i'd sort of set that straight,, anyway- the school is very good, i met 85% of my friends in this school and i've had some great memories here, also, there are after school programs, 18, i think, which are very well put together, and also there are after school busses... (in case anybody was wondering :-p ).
