OES is among the very best elementary schools in the state in all areas. It was awarded Mass Compass School designation in 2001 and in 2003 it was named a Blue Ribbon School (One of only two named in 2003) by the federal government. The MCAS scores are consistently among the very highest in the state. Committed long term teachers who take pride in their work and enjoy a collegial atmosphere, an emphasis on respect for all, a focus on academics while also promoting a variety of extracurricular activities, a sunny, clean and spacious school structure and ample playing fields in a beautiful resort area and most importantly--a school committee mandated policy to limit class size to under 17 (often way under 17), has resulted in a terrific school.
