not a student but the teachers and administration DID NOT support me, rather not go into details, but Salem High is THE WORST school I have had the displeasure of being associated with!

in response to the last review, the High Schools are the beginning of a teenagers steps into adulthood. They have to come on time for class it gets them ready for a job in the world. If your late for work all the time your boss isn't going to say well at least you showed up, you will be replaced by someone who is responsible enough to come in on time. As for its an achievement to just get them to go, its you job as a parent to make sure your child gets an education and becomes a reponsible and respectable adult so they can make this world better for the next generation. You sound like a lazy parent. School is what you make of it your child gets what you put into him or her.You should punish your child for being late. Its rude to keep other waiting.

This school should not punish kids for being late for school. Just getting them to go is an achievment. All it does is just make the student hate being there even more. Be glad that he or she shows up.

I like this school. And I am currently a Junior. When I first started in 2007 I believe, the school was under construction and some parts were being rebuilt. Near the end of my freshman year, the construction was done, and it was better than before. The teachers are nice and there is many electives. Of course there are clique problems. But every schools have that. I dont belong to a 'clique', but it is fun making and getting to know others. Pep rallies at this school are really fun and spirit week is amazing. Teachers usually have daybacks. Which is when a student can stay to catch up, or get help. But that is IF the students stayed, but most of the time, students dont tke advantage of the chances. MCAS scores in Salem High are always on the raise

Salem HIgh is a fairly good school for motivated students who are willing to challenge themselves in honors and A.P. classes. It is not a good place for kids who need to be pushed. There are some excellent teachers but you will find a few who are truly terrible. Socially, most kids seem to be happy. There is something for everyone in terms of extracurricular activities.

This school is like any other highschool, you need to learn how to take advantage of what it has. You learn to become a more ambitious student as well as develop your social skills. If you want a good education bad enough you will succeed and learn something. It has groups and cliques but what highschool doesn't? For the most part the students I have met there are open to anyone. They have a strong athletic program and great coaches which support students with that they do on and off the field.

This is probably the worst school on the North Shore, as proven by it's rating. The entire faculty, including the deans, seems to be made up of the most incompetent people the city could find. The teachers offer little help to students struggling with grades, the most they can offer a student is one hour a week after school. Do NOT send your children here, please listen to this warning. Send them to ANY high school within a 100 mile radius before you send them to Salem High School.

I am unsatisfied with the communication skills of the teachers and house advisor. For example, I did not receive one of the report cards in the mail, and I was met with indifference and disbelief that such a thing could happen ( my daughter is on the honour role, so there was no lifting it out of the mail on her part). I never did rcv it by the way. I had several major surgeries over the last 6 months and when I enquired with the head master if there was some sort of communication board for parents to help with this ( transportation ) I was told that I could pay $200.00 to catch the bus. This would be fine, but the bus stop was half way to school and I am unable to walk. The point I am making is that there was no help in finding a solution.

Ill have to say this school is not properly put together. First lets start off with the teachers, most of them are nice, but some of them get in your buisness and are very nosey. These teachers then like to point out the students problems they are having and announce them to the class those teachers are not considerate of the kids privacy. The deans are cool, I wont name one of the deans name, but she can play power trips on you like no other. Oh and kids that are new to the school there new thing this year is 'inhouse', So if you were to ever come late possibly like a minute late you will be thrown in inhouse...no exceptions thats if you dont go to your detention after school for an hour. enjoy your stay!
