Walpole High School

I love my math science t4ach but, think that they expect too much out of there students and some just don't care. All I have been watching in history as a freshman are rated are history movies. There are so many bullies and bad influences. Can't wait to get out of there. I had an incident where i got punchd in the face by some junior guy (I'm a girl) and not even the superintendent did nothing about it. Unbelievable!

Not to sound like a cliche, but you get out of education what you put into it. If you have a bright, involved student, save the money towards college. We can all use that extra $ when it comes to college tuition. Our son is at Villanova, as a freshman, and is in the honors program and thriving. He truly feels that he was extremely well prepared for his college education. He is continuing Mandarin and has found that, even though a new language at WHS when he started, it gave him an excellent foundation to continue in higher education. They are making Mandarin an honor's class at WHS, as they should. kudos. Many great educators at Walpole if you raise the bar for your children and seek to challenge them. His class was full of very bright students that got into the best of schools, and of those I have heard about, all are thriving. Great group of kids.

My children had an excellent experience at Walpole High. All three of them went to the colleges of their choice (all very selective schools) and two of them went on to successful careers (one is still at Boston College). The teachers were great, guidance very good, and atmosphere supportive. We moved to Walpole from out of state and were very impressed.

The Walpole school system's relatively high performance on standardized tests has more to do with the town's demographics than the quality of the school. Of course the children of stable, relatively financially secure, relatively well educated parents will do better than average on standardized tests. This is in no way a result of Walpole's schools though. If you've ever taken the time to really observe the high school, you'd see that the school's new hallways are too narrow, creating traffic jams, its science labs very ill-equipped in comparison to some town's elementary schools, and its students suffer from an incredible dearth of diversity. To me, the Walpole school system does a poor job at developing the talent of its students when one takes into consideration the advantageous position many of its students are in to start.

I had 2 children graduate from WHS and both of them thought it was the worst education you could get out of a public school. None of the teachers are committed to the students and therefore don' t actually teach. My children watched movies in school almost every day. If that's how they are expected to learn then I should have home-schooled instead!! Guidance dept is the worst I've ever encountered. They expect the kids to do all the work when it comes to college searching and applications. Most kids that age have absolutely no idea what they want to do with the rest of their lives. I guess I wrongly assumed that the guidance staff was there to 'guide' my children along. I can't wait to move out of this town, now that all of my other children will be going to private school why would I stay here.

I do not agree with the idea that WHS has great teachers. I think that at the honors level, teachers expect students to work completely independently and get upset when you ask questions, but at the CP-1 level, they are so easy they pratically give you answers. The school has no school spirit and our principal never bothered to show up at our winter concert.

Walpole high school system has become very corrupt over the past few years. I'm not sure what the problems are but currently our teachers are going by 'work to rule' so after school club are being postponed til further notice. I could go on about many other problems at our school, but there's just not enough time. I'm transferring out of there asap.

I am a sophemore at Walpole High School and so far the experience has been great. The teachers are nice and willing to explain anything asked, and there are activities for everyone. Our principal is caring and proud of our school, and he loves his job. I take pride in going there and look foward to two more years.

I enjoyed my time at Walpole High School. I graduated in 1997 and learned every year. The teachers were well educated and many had been teaching there for several years. I felt this made the school more like a community. I know many of my teachers had been former students and I know of several of my classmates who have returned to teach there themselves. My graduating class was about 250, which to me was the perfect size. I knew everyone's name but was able to avoid those I didn't get along with. Teachers and staff were very personable and made me want to go to school. I would have appreciated more diversity in the student body, although there was certainly a great deal of diversity in personalities and ideas.

I transferred to Walpole High School from North Attleboro High School at the mid-year point. Transferring showed me that not only is the quality of teaching much more articulate at Walpole, but the envioronment is easier to learn in. At North Attleboro, I received a failing grade in Biology I, because of the lack of teacher involvement and my inability to understand the style of teaching. Once I was enrolled in Walpole High I received a 98% term grade because of the teachers ability to adapt to my learning style. I now enjoy Biology and am thinking of pursuing a career in Sciences thanks to the unique teacher quality at Walpole High School.
