An excellent school! Crystal Lake has caring effective teachers who impart a love of learning as well as preparing them for the future! Crystal Lake has received the "Beating the Odds" Award from the State of Michigan Two years in a row for excellent achievements of their students. Parents are involved and provide many fun activities for students to participate in through-out the year. My two children love school and love Crystal Lake Elementary.

The principal and one of the kindergarten teachers that is also a track coach leave much to be desired. They held my child back in Kindergarten. Rather than let him go to first grade where he is eligable for title one help, he suffered 2 years of the same teacher and did not learn anything more than he did the first time through kindergarten. I found out the same teacher was going to teach 1st grade and had him transferred. He is now in a new school getting the education he deserves. Children should not be held back in kindergarten. He is now learning to read thanks to a great teacher and title one help. He has a learning disability.

I am very impressed with both my son's school and I would say that the principal is outstanding. The teachers really care about the education that they provide and my children are in 1st and 3rd grade. Parents are highly active and volunteer for activities and field trips and it is highly promoted from the principal.
