I pulled my son out of his kindergarten class there b/c the size of the class was too large, the teacher was too rigid in her expectations of young children, there was a perjorative view of children who don't fit into the mold, and my child's faults were the focus rather than his strengths. This is not the way to encourage young children who are being introduced to the school system.

Lakes is an excellent school. The administration and staff are positive people. who care about kids, and allow for individual differences. As a former teacher and administrator, I am happy that my grandson is at Lakes.

Lakes is an excellent school. I'm very surprised at the negative comments on this site about the school, though the misspellings are telling. The teachers are very competent and many are instituting advanced practices in education. We visited schools both private and public throughout the area and found Lakes to be well above the others.

We moved here from Minnesota where we attended an outstanding school. Lakes is not on the same level, however, I feel you have to make the best out of every situation. The kids are adjusting, but even they are not completely impressed with this school.

Lakes Elementary is an excellent school! The teachers and staff sincerely care about your child. They listen and educate each child on their level. We moved here when my oldest child was in 1st grade and was worried about the transition - the teachers and staff couldn't have made it easier. They made sure she had all her needs met and really took the time to get to know her. The principal, Lindsay Smither, even has a scheduled lunch with each of the new children. Parent involvement is incredible and the PTO is very welcoming and encouraging. We have found a new family in Hartland.

I am so pleased with this school. I can't say enough about the staff, teachers and principal. It is like a family. I looked at so many other schools. Four schools expected my daughter on the first day of school and I ended up going with Lakes (which is just where she was supposed to go in the first place). I could not be happier. They are so caring about the kids. The academics are challenging, sports and other extracurriculars are plentiful. Music and Art are my daughters favorie. Wonderful library, gym and cafeteria too.

I am new to this area and I feel this school far surpasses other elementaries. I was surprised to read the complaints and felt the need to write something great about a wonderful school. All parents are very involved. The extracurriculars are still going strong even after many budget cuts by the state.

This school is a mess. They have under medicated my son, causing visits to the hospital. They lose paper work sent to them. Its PTO is very set in it's ways. Dont suggest anything to them has they will put you down and say you are wrong. As if you dont make a ton of money the PTO could care less about you and anything you have to say. Take your child to another Hartland School!!

Math and reading curriculum are not good. Children have a hard time catching up if they miss even one day of school for sickness.
