Great oaks an awesome school. I am pleased that I made a great choice for my son. I did not attend a public school and was very nervous about my son having to attend to one. I am very pleased with the teachers, the principal and the overall experience of being a part of a great school. This is the type of school that cares about the children learning. Grat Oaks Rocks!!!!!!

There are a lot of fundraisers throughout the year, but the goal is to raise money for the students and teachers to buy books, classroom supplies, and pay for field trips. The mom2mom sale from march 2007 generated over $5000 in sales, and the net profit was $3000.. Maybe if we had more parent turnout at the pto meetings and these fundraisers, parents would see how much hard work and dedication a few involved/concerned parents are putting into these fundraisers. Have a nice day.

After four 1/2 years at this school, I really felt like we were family. I have enjoyed walking down these halls and being greeted with smiles and warm words. My children have grown and learned so much here. I never thought we would be away from here, but now that we are, we can see how much we honestly had at Great Oaks. And forever will 'Each of us is a Great Oak' be in our hearts and minds.

My kids are through G.O. now, but here are honest answers for those who are thinking of moving to the area.Be prepared for: the office staff being helpful, the lower elementary teachers are fantastic, the main face in the lunch Tarea 'Mrs. V' is wonderful. Then it all falls apart. the curriculum is only as strong as the teacher of course and many projects are things only parents can complete. Art,technology,PE and music are the best part of most of the grades. Watch out for the parent group;tons of useless fundraisers. The principal is friendly and interested if you are doing something for her, even then it's transparent. But, a school that is safe,bully-free and many nice people in the area.Sit in a class and see for yourself.Don't look at just MEAP scores.

The parent involvement in this what is sub-par at this school. Sad. The school itself is what makes up for the parents lack of involvement. As with ALL schools, you want to be current with your childs classroom. I have a second and third grader here, and have had a wonderful experience with their teachers (K thru present). The staff all show interest in the children and tolerance in many difficult situations. The superintendant is fantastic, the principal gets my straight A's. I don't see any teachers that are apathetic, especially to a parent who makes themselves known. There are many good schools in this district, this is definitly one of them.

Marginal at best. Great oaks is like many schools, there are the good teachers and the bad ones. There are several sub-par teachers at this school who are generally apathetic, burned out and disinterested in actually teaching, but are very good at providing lip service to cover their hide. Just pray that your child gets a good teacher. My 3rd grade son comes home and tells stories about his teacher making personal calls from her cell phone during class, talking openly about her divorce.
