I have two children with opposite learning styles and personalities, yet both have excelled at City School. My son has ADHD, yet feels very accepted, his teacher this year and the one he had for past two years have been outstanding in helping him to find coping skills and master subjects in his own way so he can be successful. My children know every child in their school and most parents and even grandparents as the focus is the involment of the family (including grandparents and older siblings) to make the children successful. Although as a full time working mom with 3 children under 9 the volunteering that I do at the school requires juggling, it is SO worth it to see the kids excell (not only my own, but their classmates as well) and gain self confidence. The teachers, principal, office staff and custodians all know the kids by name and really care about the kids in the building. Keep up the Great Work City School!!!

Very involved, knowlegable principal. Parents are very involved. Kids can get left behind if they are not self starters. Lots of hands on experiences and field trips.

The school is a very small public school of choice in Michigan. The primary focus of the program is the development of each child to reach individual excellence. The program is structured to help each child learn how to really think for themselves, and help them develop a social awareness to hep others. In the upper 3-4-5, there is an emphasis on inventions, math, science,to help them see how they can help create solutions for today's problems and that they are fully capable of being the ones to do it.. Parental involvement is a critical piece of the program. Outside field trips occur weekly to museums, soup kitchens, local businesses, etc. Each child that leaves this school has a belief that they can succeed and will help others. My daughter graduated from the program last year and I am so grateful that she had the opportunity to experience this incredible program.

CIty School is the best school. Standards of education should compare to this school. The teachers care about their students and use many different methods to help them learn. The City School students go on many different field trips designed to teach them while they are learning. For example, they learned about history by going to the Detroit Science Center to see the Titanic Exhibit. The students spent the day learning about the Titanic and finding out if the passenger they were given at the beginning of the exhibit survived. Every year the students go to a one room schoolhouse from the 18th century and experience school in one room. They have to dress like the students and bring their lunch as the students would have. This school is such an experience and academically the students are far ahead of their fellow 6th graders when they matriculate to Middle School.

City School is the best Elementary school in Grand Blanc,Mihigan eventhough it is the oldest, smallest, poorest school.People who is familiar with City School would never glance twice at the school as they pass by it because it does not look very appealing and in need of major renovation. However, the kids and their parents did not mind of walking down the old worned hall way daily, the tiny restrooms, nor the donated couches, tables and furnitures in Mrs. Weiss 's classroom (our beloved Fourth /Fifth grade teacher). Here at City School, the teachers and school officials are truly dedicated and devoted to their students and professions! They always push their students to be the best and challenge them with numerous educational programs, contests, activities, field trips that are hands on.They have also involved the students with our community by volunteering at The Soup Kitchen,The Food Bank, working at Evatt's Farms... Last year our Third,Fourth and Fifth graders also participated in The American/French exchange program organized by our teacher Mrs.Weiss ,hosted 15 French students from France for 2 weeks. It was a wonderful and rewarding experience for our students made possible by our school Director, our teachers and our parents. This is some of the few extraordinary programs that City School offered to our students and we truly believe the our school are one of the school in nation!
