The CAO is excellent and the teachers are dedicated to their profession. The school is turning around with the leadership.
The only good thing I can say about this school is that the teachers are committed to their students. One teacher in particular, Natasha Stewart is the most educated and committed teacher I have encountered at this location. This school should be proud to have her on staff.
Discovery Arts & Technology Academy is under the leadership of a very caring and commited leader, the CAO. She is very hands-on and involved in the instructional aspect of her leadership role. Mrs. Sanford goes above and beyond her duties to ensure a safe and caring environment for the purpose of students learning. The staff provides the instructional strategies necessary for student success. There is not a school, private or public, that is perfect and without flaws. However, it is the commitment of the students, staff, administration and PARENTS that make a great school. Supporting Educator
Its a great school, with a caring principal, and wonderful teachers.
I'm enjoying the school, the teachers are wonderful. The kids are really learning.
I really enjoy the fact that the teachers and other support staff is taking the time out to work in helping me improve my son's behavioral problems.
I totally disagree with what is written about the school in the recent two comments. I think the CAO has done a wonderful job trying to make improvements to the school with limited resources. I spoke with the CAO personally about the status of additional programs for the school and extracurricular activities and she took the time to explain how the enrollment and budget effect how many programs and activities a school can have. I think that parents should be educated on how the educational system works before they post comments like the ones I read. I have always been able to see the CAO whenever I wanted to. Recently, she has even been sitting in the hallways monitoring them between classes. I've never seen a principal do that! And programs have been added. I like the school and believe it will grow.
Unfortunately, this school does not live up to Mosaica Education's(their cirriculum and standards) reputation. The leadership at this school is horrible! If it wasn't for the teachers, this school would not function at all. The teachers are amazing, but there is only so much they can do. This is the most poorly ran school I have ever seen. I would not recommend this school to anyone. This school does not even have just the fundamental basics in place. They don't have any programs in place for children that are exceeding as well as those that need help. They do not live up to their name of arts & technology. It's just ridiculous. In the end, the ones that suffer are the children, the ones who should be the principal's #1 priority.
The principal at this school is absolutely horrible. She is never around. In the 2 years my child has been at the school I have only met her 1 time. That is unacceptable she is supposed to be one of the faces of the school. She is hard to get a hold of and hard to talk to.
I am really happy with the school. The teachers really work hard to teach their students. Almost everyone involved at the school is working to improve every aspect! The school will be building a playground for the upcoming school year. It is very hands on and I can tell that they are trying to get much more parent involvment. There is usually something everything month to attend after school. I am pleased and will keep my kids there.
I really like Discovery Arts and Technology. The teachers for the most part, are great! They really care about their students and make the learning fun! My kids love their teachers. Next year they will have a playground too. There are many great improvements too! I really think this will be a great school in time.
Discovery Arts and Technology has made some real improvements over the last year. They now have a great principle who is doing everything she can to make a great learning enviroment. The staff this year is excellent and they really care about their students. I will continue to send my children here.
I have some children at the school and I came back after I realized the the grass is not always greener. I am glad I returned because they had made a lot of improvements since we were there. The teachers are friendly and are willing to work with my children. I don't understand the comment about the lunches because I know a school would never just serve cheese with a piece of lettuce for lunch.
My daughter will not return to this school. It was a bad experience. Not inly were the techers unorganized but the whoe school was. We were not notified of upcoming events in a timely manner, the food was not what they said they would serve on the menu, it was horrible. I felt my daughter wasnt learning much until the end of the school year. With that said 95% of what she knows from me teaching her. Very unorganized!
My son was in this school for less then a year before I pulled him out. The teacher quality was horrible. The principal leadership is the worst I have ever seen. I would not recommend this school to a single soul. The lunches are never what is on the schedule for example the calendar said hamburger and my son got a piece of cheese and lettuce on bread.
