Westwood High School

Westwood High School is an excellant school. The school is the most challenging school in the district. The teachers do not put of with and messing around, making your learning environment better. The rules of the school are NOT over the top. All that they ask of us is to act in a mature manner and to not break any obvious rules such as.. no bringing guns to school. These rules still enable you to have a good time; while at the same time enabling other people to learn in a peaceful and relaxing environment. Every student will say that their school is the worst school. I have been to the Ishpeming School District the Nice School District and the Nice School District provides a better environment for you to learn in because problems are dealt with as they come up. At Ishpeming the problems are just pushed for later.

Westwood, while still one of the better High Schools in the county, it is starting to feel the effects of the... distagration of the local mining industries (one of the chief employers in the area), the school is on a downward spiral. If you are willing to overlook those problems, then you will be pleased to know that Westwood has a set of very good vocational, PE, science and math teachers. The Sports are well run (in my opinion), we even have an ex-olympic diver coaching the swim team.

The school needs to take a long hard look at it's extracurricular program. This would be directed to coaching! There are a lot of talented kids attending this school who are not reeping the benefits of a winning seasons due to coaching.
