Great programs for college prep - all around well balanced school - great music department!
My daughter is so happy at Jackson HS. It provides a terrific learning environment not just for academics, but also in life skills. Any school is what you and your child make of it. Jackson offers the most comprehensive education in the area, the community is behind it, and there are enough varied students to give a child a wonderful education.
I used to go to JHS I graduated last year years ago. Academically It's a great school to go to. But it still has it's problems. I don't particularly think I would send my kids there.
awesome school i loved going there!
My children are 4th generation students (and graduates) of Jackson High School. I would not choose any other school in Jackson County because none can compare to JHS's extensive course offerings (as demonstrated by students from outside the district opting to take classes at JHS), numerous sports activities some of which not offered elsewhere in the county (and therefore out-of-district students come to JHS to be on the teams), & caring, compassionate, and cooperative staff willing to work with parents.
My daughter is currently at Jackson High and I have never seen such a quality academic program. I have been extremely pleased with the head principal's willingness to explain things to us and have felt very welcome at school events. Jackson High is a great place for our daughter.
Jackson High School really is 'The School of Choice for Jackson County'. It is a beuatiful building with the best science facilities around as well as a great sports complex. The large staff is a tremendous group of caring educators that clearly demonstrate that teaching is more than just a job to them. The science, foreign language, and music departments are exceptional. They have a huge Advanced Placement program. With a large, diverse student body, a sensitive administration and a professional staff they are the only real choice for Jackson County.
Jackson High School excells other schools of its size in its course offerings and extracurricular activities. Jackson High School has a diverse enrollment providing a very multi-cultural environment. Too often smaller schools in the surrounding area are limited to the educational possibilities provided by such diversity. Jackson High School has the largest and most successful German Language program east of the Mississippi River and continues to grow. The enhanced programs are represented by several Advanced Placement courses and a science department that offers over 15 different courses. Jackson high school is deffinately a 'School of Choice' in the Jackson area.
Organization of information can be a challenge especially when it involves others and not just yourself. When it comes to after school activities though, as a parent with many responsibilities, I think the schedule should be improved. When, date, times and such information should be more solid than it has been. The day before can prove difficult for many, even players. Realizing all schools are having issues, let's all try to be patient and set a good example for our students.
