I have 5 children who have attended or are attending Mattawan schools. We are hopefully moving soon and I cannot wait to get out of this district. There are some teachers worth their paycheck but many more are simply not able to teach at all. So disappointed by our whole experience here. If you have a child with any sort of learning disability then DO NOT SEND HIM/HER here, that includes any child with ADD or ADHD. The middle school teachers completely broke my son and told him he was worthless. After adjusting his medication, he is now a straight A student. The administration cares more about spewing test scores than individualized student learning styles. If you move to this district be prepared to send your child with a lot of money. They'll need it for everything the school charges for. From athletic fees, choir fees, band fees, club fees, paper, pens, tissues, cleaning supplies, snacks and drinks for the whole class to share, etc, etc, etc, Hopefully we will be gone soon.

MATTAWAN LIKES STUDENTS WHOLE EXCEL........DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO MATTAWAN IF THEY HAVE LEARNING DISABILITIES OR ARE IN SOME OTHER WAY DISABLED. THE STAFF IS HORRIBLE WITH FOLLOWING THE IEP'S THAT ARE SET FORTH. ALL TALK NO ACTION. THE STAFF GOSSIPS CONTINUALLY ABOUT FAMILIES THAT ARE NOT UP TO THEIR RICHY RICH STANDARDS . NEVER SEND A CHILD TO MATTAWAN THAT REQUIRES ANY SPECIAL NEEDS.

I graduated from Mattawan Schools years ago and dreamed of coming back to teach there to give back to a community that has given so much to my family and friends. Choosing to send my child to this school system was one of the wisest decisions I have ever made. The staff at Mattawan is truly dedicated and I am very proud to count myself as one of them. Graduates of this school system continually move back to the area after starting a family of their own. That one single fact says a great deal about the system itself. We are truly blessed.

I am a student at Mattawan. I've gone to Mattawan my whole life. I absolutley love it here! There's no other school i would rather go to. I have so many friends and very few enemy's. The kids at Mattawan all have their own pesonality. Most of my teachers i have had were probably the best teachers ever. The school lunches are ok but i still like them. They have amazing staff that help you all the time. We have a huge band! Mattawan is ranked one of the best in the nation. To me, the high school is a little small but im pretty sure they are going to stat vuiling a new one. When I hae kids, they are deffinatly going to Mattawan! I love Mattawan and I personally think it's better than most schools in the state!

I attended Mattawan as a Junior in high school and absolutely hated it. Not only were most the students very unfriendly and clicky, coaches treated me like i was dirt because i came from a smaller school, it was very sad how they played favorites. I have never felt so unwelcome in my entire life. On a lighter note the education was great, probably the only reason i made it through the school year. I returned back to my old school for my senior year and couldn't have been happier with my decision... If you plan on starting your child here from the get go it would probably help them get through but I would not recommend transferring to this school.

I love it here. I've gotten a great education, and it has really prepared me for college. I've gone to Mattawan Consolidated Schools my whole life, and it's been an amazing place to grow up.

Mattawan is a great school which has received high marks in all categories, art, sports, and academics. Its arts programs are one of the many things that Mattawan is inernationally recognized for, the band and chours programs are unmatched. Mattawan is known for its exceptional softball team which has been ranked best in the nation, they met the president last year. Mattawan's soccer programs are also well above average and usually finish within the top three in the state. Mattawan's lacrosse program is exceptional all around. The academics make Mattawan in the top ten schools in the country. The school is a safe, clean, and friendly learning enviornment. I wouldn't go to any other school in the state because what Mattawan has is not found anywhere else. Mattawan is an easy place to make friends because of its friendly students. And the teachers really do care and want you to succeed.

All of these reviews are from parents speaking on behalf of their children, and much of what they are saying is absolutely true. Mattawan does have an excellent band program and high educational standard. However, from a student's point of view, the school is really sub-par. I have no problem with the administrators themselves, but there's obviously a money sectioning problem. While our band (which does not affect the students' future life and therefore should not be the school's priority) receives a vast budget, students are forced to take online courses for things that they should not have to, and are sometimes not able to complete this work satisfactorily due to the fact that paper and toner are often at a shortage. I like a lot of the teachers, but there are some (two come to mind) that would be fired at any other school and ruined my entire stay.

I graduated in 08', awesome school and it helped prepare me for college in a way I can't explain. I am now an Aviation Administration Major and a Air Force ROTC major and it has gotten me through some times. Thank you Mattawan, you are an inspiration to me and so many others.

Tiny facilities, too few teachers, too low budget, horrible students.
