There is barely any supervision outside of the school walls, ranging from recess, to when students are leaving the school...
We have two daughters who attend Plymouth Elementary and we have had our ups and downs. One of my daughters attended multi-age last year. She liked the diversity, but found that the teachers were very strict and it was my impression that they didn't have good management skills for such a large and diverse group of kids. We feel my other daughter needs some extra attention and isn't getting it. Another thing as mentioned in other reviews...parking...awful! This is very unsafe.
I have a child that started multi-age and I will admit we had doubts but she is just loving it, having the grades work together and separately is a wonderful idea. We are happy with our decision to enroll her in the multiage. The school has a new principal and it is heading in the right direction. As Vice President of the PTO one of the items that concern us is parent involvement, there are plenty who do get involved with their child or children's education but there are also who don't and I am finding that it is in the 4th and 5th grades where the parents are not getting involved as much.
When my child attended he went to a multiage class combining 3 grades. It was the best school experience we've ever had!! The group teachers were excellent, bar none!! ( I have two older children who did not attend Midland schools). The blending of special needs students and regular. ed students was wonderful for my son to be involved in. He not only gained intellectually, but gained empathy too. If you have an IEP or 504 be vigilant as they tend to let these go by the way side. But overall, we had an excellent experience. (Parking IS a nightmare, as is at the neighboring middleschool.)
This school is'nt a warm school but our son likes it and does well straight A student. All Females and really needs male imput. The principal is ok. Also the parking lot is a real issue at this school and I suggested they go to Woodcrest to see how smoothly it was done there but went on deaf ears. My overall comment is they need some Male role models badly.
