As a newly transferred student I have experienced a poorer district's schools. Coming from a small, 600 kids in grades K-12 I can appreciate how much more money the school has coming in and how they apply it to their schools. That being said I've also been able to feel the social pressure to fit in, being above average class at a smaller school translates into barely average, if not slightly below average. There is some nonacceptance from the kids there that are in the PPPS system their whole lives but the no-tolerance bullying policy is nice.

I'm a student here at Paw Paw. From what I have seen and been a part of (which I have done a lot) this school district has many supporting parents and teachers. But of course, we aren't perfect. We have those few teachers that we feel like are rude, or we just don't like. But who doesn't? Paw Paw schools offer many things and make sure to help the students who need it. We have advanced classes. Classes for the ones who need extra help. Plus, we also have many oppurtunities for the ones who love music or sports. I love it here, and wouldn't want to go anywhere else.

Grades are inflated to project the idea that students are doing well. If you get the chance to talk to Paw Paw graduates (most, not all), you will understand. Read the reviews submitted by students, paying particular attention to the writing skills. Enough said. Teachers are mostly locally educated, attending local high schools and WMU. It's a shame WMU can't erase the former. Cliquish and not welcoming of students whose parents weren't born in Paw Paw, there is far too little outside influence to change this failing district. Avoid this district if you are relocating to the Kalamazoo area. Mattawan and Portage are better choices for larger schools. Plainwell is a good choice for a medium sized district. Each of these seem to be better supported by parents and the community.

This school is great teacher involvement. The students really enjoy the enviroment that they are offered. Over 97% graduate, at that's wonderful. Exams are 20% of their final grade, and that makes those that are blowing off the exams work harder to achieve their life goals.
