Stoney Creek is a fabulous high school and we are extraordinarily pleased with the experience our son is having. He is appropriately challenged academically and is performing very well. He has been well-prepared for AP tests, and has consistently had positive relationships with his teachers. There are clubs and organizations to suit every type of student, and for a school of its size I find that the student body is generally well-behaved and respectful. The counseling staff is superior. We are very happy with our son's academic success and feel that he is being well-prepared for college and beyond.

Having attended two high schools in my life, i would have to say Stoney Creek is amazing. The students are a little cliquey, however, the teachers are wonderful and truely care for the students. Mr. Hickey was a wonderful principle and he will be missed when he retires after this school year. I thoroughly enjoyed my experiances at SCHS, and I miss them greatly. I enjoyed going to school, and didn't recieve an insane amount of homework. If I could, I would return to SCHS in an instant, but I can't. I miss it and while I only attended Stoney for a short time, it was the most fun i've ever had at school and I recieved an excellent eduacation. Thanks

Stoney Creek is an excellent school. It is highly regarded by college admission officers. My children were very well prepared for college. The thing that impresses me the most is the passion of the teachers. Mr. Hickey did a great job and he will be missed.

I have had three children attend this school and the commitment and dedication of the teachers and especially the principal have allowed all of my children to thrive academically and culturally. I have never seen a principal so involved in every aspect of the school as Dan Hickey. I cannot say enough about the education that my children have received at Stoney Creek HS.

Excellent academic program, sports activities, music and arts are exceptional, heavy parent involvement.

My comments are regarding the school principal, Mr. Hickey. My son is new to the school, two weeks into the semester. Prior to my son transferring to the school, Mr. Hickey set a meeting with my son (and parents). During this meeting, Mr. Hickey showed a very sincere interest in my son (what he likes to do, that all his staff is available to help him in the school, that he is welcome to the school and that his only requirment of him is that 'he be a full time student'. Mr. Hickey took us on a tour of the school. Durning the tour, I was surprised at how many students Mr. Hickey acknowledged by first name. He is a true leader and involved with 'on hands' approach in his position as school principle. Keep up the outstanding leadership and thanks.

This school is incredible, You will never find a better staff and they care about every single student. Everything that Mr. Hickey and his staff do is top of the line. I have a child that was carrying a 2.0 GPA and Mr. Hickey personally became involved and my son now has a 3.3 GPA. Mr. Hickey is a hands on administrator and he cares about his students and their lives. When you enroll your child in Stoney you will not have a worry in the world. They will get their education and if they have to be disciplined they will be. You will never find a more fair principal anyplace.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Michigan used the Michigan Merit Examination (MME) to assess students in grade 11 in reading, writing, math, science and social studies. The MME is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MME test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
