Herig is an excellent school. I wish for a better curriculum but for now Thanks to the teachers and staff.

The teachers are very involved in their students. They have wonderful activities often. Teachers there are very hands on, and really enjoy their job. I would recommend this school to any family.

I was very hesitant about putting my child at Herig, the location is not the greatest. However, I was so pleased after my daughter's first year that I decided to send her back. She didn't want to leave either. The teachers there are excellent and they really care about their students. They all try to individualize their academic plans to include all the students, without making anyone feel like they are left behind or further ahead. I definitely recommend this school, I think they get more one on one attention here than other schools I have visited in Saginaw County.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
