I love this school. The teachers are caring individuals who go out of their way to help their students. The school promotes responsibility to the students with programs like R.E.S.P.E.C.T. The school offers real-life experiences by offering a scool bank and store that students can volunteer to work. The schools curriculm is wonderful and the school is increasing learning requirement for each grade completion to keep up with the state requirement and then some. All and all Sand Lake Elementary is a well rounded school with teachers who care and an awesome principal.
I am disappointed that my daughter's schools isn't ranking higher! Sand Lake Elementary is a wonderful school with a very involved and caring staff. We are in a small community and they really emphasis the older children helping the younger children and rewarding strong character with all students. I would have given it 5 stars, but felt my daughter's teacher last year lost focus a bit (family issues) and seemed scattered at time. My child did not suffer from this, but can see where others may have. The principal is great and all other staff from the office to the janitor have been more than friendly and helpful.
My 2 children attend and have wonderful caring teachers. The principal is helpful and the kids genuinely love her. I especially love the many trips that the kids take. It seems there is always something that is fun and inspiring for the kids to take part in at this school.
My children went to Sand Lake and one had a horrible experience. When I talked to the principal over 4 times and tried to change things she said her hands were tied and she couldn't do anything. My child had more subs then her own teacher and a miserable year. We took her out early and changed schools. Too bad that one bad teacher can do so much damage.
My son has been excelling ans happy at Sand Lake. We moved at the beginning of the school year. He hadn't been happy in school for quite some time. He likes his teachers and the mix of friends has been good to him. Getting settled we haven't been in to much of the parenting involved activities, but the parents that do run the items seem to do very well. There have been quite a few trips and programs this year, one including the symphony that my som simply loved.
