Very pleased with the school. Caring teachers and administration. Children are receiving a quality education and really like their school.
We LOVE St Lawrence. We are currently in our fourth year with our boys and absolutely love it here. We wouldn't change a thing. Every institution has issues but nothing here to complain about or isn't handled or addressed in a timely manner . Love love love the teaching staff and all the wonderful families and friends we have made here so far.
My son is currently a freshman at DeLaSalle Collegiate High School and St. Lawrence School has greatly prepared my son for the challenging classes he is taking at DLS. Most of the boys at DLS, that have graduated from St. Lawrence School, have the highest GPAs in their grades. The Admissions Director has even stated that St. Lawrence School has the highest Catholic High School placement test scores than any other elementary school. The teachers at St. Lawrence are doing a great job because "the proof is in the pudding".
I attend this school and tell you the athletics are great. Academics, not so much. Teachers don't explain anything and we finish all work in class.(like public school). Bullying is a huge problem around me. Very chaotic.
Please use caution sending your child to a private school. In the past, St Lawrence has have MANY problems with their priests. Including but not limited to priests stealing money and problems with student/ priest relationships. Please never leave your child unattended with the staff.
Bullying is a problem in st. Lawrence Catholic school in utica. They encourage bullying but try to make you think they are doing something about it. Unfortunately my daughter experienced horrific incidents, Despite my awareness that an anti-bullying policy should be in place at the school, the responses that I have been receiving are unsatisfactory: the bullying has not stopped and the schools is taking insufficient measures to make it stop. THANKFULLY my daughter is out of this school now.
My children have adapted well to this school. I love the fact that they use Daily 5 in the lower grades!
I love this school, I have both my boys there..they love it...I think the teachers, staff and princeple, assistance and most of all Father Bob..are excellent team..I'm praying that i can afford it until my boys graduate. keeping my finger cross. I love the start time 8:55, itis the best..the drop off in the moring is the best and very organize..with all the cold tempratures at winter you still see many teachers and assistance princeple outside..sometimes even help and open the door for our kids..God bless all. :)
Te academics at this school are very strong. There are some wonderful teachers and some just average teachers but its the competitiveness of the other students that has really challenged my children. Its "cool" to be smart and disciplined here (unlike at our public school). What really sets this school apart is the closenss of the community and the involvement of the parents. Those are intangible things that are hard to measure but priceless in action.

I have a 2nd grader & an 8th grader at St Lawrence. Due to having been there for 8 years now, I've seen many changes. The best change came when the new staff took over two years ago. There is a fabulous new Principal there now, that the students adore & so do the parents. I also can't say enough about the Assistant Principal. This is a very professional team & they have implemented so many changes since arriving 2 years ago, that it's really changed the entire atmosphere of the school. The past admin team was absolutely worthless, & uncaring. Thankfully our Pastor saw this & fired the last Assistant Principal, making room for the new wonderful Assist Principal we have now. There has been a decline in enrollment but that is due to poor economic times here in the Detroit area...it no longer has to do with the staff!
I love this school! They are very caring and family like. The teacher always go above and beyond for the chirlren. I have a son in Nursury school there and he is so excited to go to school!!
I found the teaching staff to be more than helpful. They care about my child's overall well being, not just academically, but socially as well.
We intended on sending our children to the very good public schools in Utica until we got a feel for what St. Lawrence has to offer. It is an incredible atmosphere with real Catholic values and tremendous leadership from the clergy. We have four children at various grades and have found the quality of education to be exceptional and the teachers to be very dedicated. The combination of academics, religion and character is fantastic. I would recommend St. Lawrence to anyone who wants a great Catholic education for their child in a terrific family-focused environment. We've been thrilled!
My Children have had outstanding teachers that have gone the extra mile to support and enhance their educational experience. The new administration has brought leadership and a vision/plan of Educational Excellence to the school. This along with Catholic Christian values entering year 2 of this change I am excited to have my children start the school year!
i have been at this school since pre school and im in 8th grade now. this is an awesome school with great teachers. the teaching is more advanced than other schools and everyone is nice and in order
I attended this school from K-2 and I loved it. Mrs. Salarno remains my all-time favorite teacher!!!
Choosing St. Lawrence as a school has its advantages. Catholic religion is part of its education. Each classroom is handled by one teacher, with rules (imagine that!) The education in the elementary is comparative to Utica schools. There is a non-bully/ non-violence agenda at St. Lawrence. The St. Lawrence community is pro-family and pro-school.
awww i loved this school i went for 5th grade i had ms.DiNoto. Elena
Average teaching curriculum compared to Utica Community Schools, poor upper elem. science and other access. Horrible adminstration with an 'I don't care attitude. I am only sending my children there due to the spritualness and we'll see each year how it continues. Reputation and enrollment has gone down since the core adminstration came.
