Great school, great parent and teacher partnerships and wonderful PTA. Glad to be a LLE family!

LLE is a great place to learn. My son is in 2nd grade and loves going to school at LLE. I am so happy with the friendly and well educated staff and the leadership of the principal, Mr. Furca. The PTA is outstanding and their involvement in the schools shows as soon as you walk in. Overall, LLE is just a warm, friendly and exciting place to be.

I am so happy with LLE. My child has attended this school since kindergarten and is now in second grade. He loves going to school and comes home happy. All his teachers have been very caring, structured and have left a great impression on him. The principle Mr. Furca, is very approachable and takes pride in the great kids at Loon Lake. Also, the PTA support to the school is tremendous. They work so hard to make sure the kids have fun activites to attend. Overall I couldn't be more pleased. Heather

We have been very happy with LLE. We love new principal Mr. Furca, he is very involved. Also we have an excellent PTA and lots of parent involvment with classroom volunteering too!

The academics seem to be in calibration with other schools in the area, parent involvment is very high. If the leadership was changed I believe it would greatly improve the moral of the school.

Loon Lake is a school that offers a warm welcome and a caring committment to it's students and parents. The teachers are well educated, up to date with the latest training, real people, fun, and they really seem to love their job. The parents are involved and you often find them volunteering in the classroom. The students (k-5) leave Loon Lake to enter middle school with a sense of independence, responsible study habits, and a positive outlook about education.

About the tests

In 2013-2014 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. Currently, GreatSchools' ratings reflect 2013 MEAP results; ratings will be updated after 2014 Michigan Merit Examination (MME) results are released. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. In addition, they have recalculated past years' results using these new standards for proficiency, making the above year-over-year results comparable.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
