Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Child's Elementary is an exemplary elementary school with incredible teachers. My daughter completed the fifth grade there in June and my son will enter Kindergarten there in September. I am confident that my son will get the same outstanding education that my daughter did. My daughter excelled with the attention given to her by her teachers and by the social connections that were encouraged. She was involved in the school play as well as Girls on the Run, both programs that brought out social learning. My only concern going forward is the States administering of testing...they are shackling our teachers with this hindrance to educational growth. I know the teachers and administration at Child's Elementary will endure and excel in tough situations just as they teach our children to. Go Childs Cheetahs!

I can't say enough good things about this school. My 13 year old daughter and my 12 year old son received an excellent education here. My third grade daughter (current student) has a severe learning disorder, and is excelling beyond our wildest expectations. We love the racial diversity and community spirit. The Childs community is warm, engaged, responsive, and fun. The teachers are very competent and so creative. What an amazing blessing to have a public school like this.

This has been such a wonderful school. My Son not only has grown academically but also emotionally. I look foward to sending my daughter there and watching her get all the support and education that her brother has received and continues to do so.

I have been looking forward to sending my son to Childs for years. Next year he will attend Kindergarten there. I have been able to attend the Family Fun Night and school plays to see neighbors children. I love the "feeling " of the school. It is very welcoming and there is such a sense of belonging. This school is the primary reason my child will go to Lincoln.

My kids tell me everyday how they love to go to school! They entire staff is awesome! Words cannot express my appreciation and dedication the special education has. We actually moved into this area because of what other parents had told us about Childs. We can even walk to school on a nice day and my kids love it!

We have our third child starting K at Childs this coming fall. She is so excited because she has heard her two older brothers talk about how much they love Child's elementary and their teachers. We have been blessed by having such a wonder enviroment for our childrens educational growth, to have such exceptional teachers and administrators to work with, and to have built an amazing community of parents and children. My wife and I can not think of a better choice we could have made for our children, than moving into the district 9 years ago.

My family has been a part of Childs for 8 years and I could not have asked for anything better for my children. The school has a very diverse student population and EVERY child is valued as respected by the teachers, administrators, and parent community. My children have been challenged academically by the excellent, creative teachers. But they have also been nurtured socially through the numerous community events and volunteer-led extracurricular activities. Childs provides a superb education for the whole child and I'm so grateful to be a part of it!

We have been at Childs for 3 years and the teachers are fantastic. The principle is very envolved and makes the school a fun place to learn for the children. I am so pleased with the public school here in Lincoln Consolidated district. The PTO is very active and the music program and school plays bring extra appreciation and joy to both the parents and students.

My children attend this school and the quality of the education and the sense of community is exceptional. The teachers are extraordinary and go far above and beyond to help my children excel. My children feel a sense of pride attending this school and this pride is working to lay the groundwork for thier desire to do well. The curriculum and the extracurricular activities that are available to the students are diverse and constructed in a manner to develop mindful and community oriented children. Childs Elementary is a true Shining Star in the Lincoln Consolidated School District.

I have 2 kids at Childs, and have been so impressed with all of their teachers. I was initially concerned that my kids would be bored in school, but the teachers have all been very willing and capable of creating challenging assignments (sometimes just for my kid!). The teachers' commitment is incredibly high compared with other schools. I also love the way the parent group is able to partner with the teachers to provide additional activities like an annual musical theater performance, spring family fun night, various dances and other fun/enriching experiences. I would highly recommend this school!

Our family has been involved in the school for four years now and we are still very thrilled to be a part of the Childs community. The teachers have been excellent as well as the parent/teacher interactions that we have experienced. The teachers have always went above and beyond to discuss my child's academics, which helped us focus on certain aspects at home. I have been impressed with the quality of the Specials that are offered as well as the building and grounds areas. Our family is active in school events and we have met many wonderful families. We look forward to our youngest attending kindergarten at Childs next year as we know her experience will be wonderful.

I have been very impressed with my child's teachers so far, and the parents that are so very involved within the school. I am a public school advocate, and this elementary school is exactly why. I am proud that my son is a Child's Elementary Cheetah!!

We have been extremely pleased with the education our son has received while at Childs. The teachers are excellent and have kept him challenged every year. More importantly, they have nourished his love of learning. I love the sense of community we've found at Childs. The PTO is very active and there are many activities for the children and their families.

I adore Child's Elementary! The teachers at Child's have created a school climate that is inviting and nurturing! The school building itself lends to a collaborative learning environment. It is evidient a lot of thought went into the construction of this builidng and how students learn best. There are numerous after school activities for my 3 children to particpate in. My children love this school and so do I! My children have been extrememly successful in their education, and I give this success to the teachers, the close knit neighborhood, the PTO, and the value my husband and I put on education as well. I am a teacher in a neighboring district, and I would not send my kids anywhere else! I am a proud mom of Child's Elementary and of my children!!!!

I have two children at Childs with completely different personalities and both have been treated as individuals. We have had only one overlap in teachers and are very happy with the quality of all the instruction our kids have received. In addition, the parent involvement is one of the real strengths of this school and any parent considering sending a student here should be prepared to get involved with their Childs education.

I have been very impressed with the staff at Childs. My kids love going to school because the teachers love what they are doing. The children are more than prepared when they move on to the Middle School. We are more than a school or community, we are a family.

I have two children attending Childs Elementary. The teachers are wonderful and have done a great job challenging my kids. There are a lot of extra activities that the kids can participate in, and lots of all school events that are well attended by families and staff. Childs truly feels like a community. We would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking at schools in this area.

There is much to like about this school. The teachers, administration, staff and parents all contribute to making this a safe, fun and challenging environment for our children. Programs and activities are available to help our kids learn in many different ways. Chess club, musical productions, science fair, Advanced Reading nights iPads and more help keep our kids engaged and constantly learning. I am confident Childs complements what I am doing at home to help me prepare my children for a bright future.

We have had many wonderful experiences at Childs Elementary. The staff is very caring and supportive. I have had two children move on to the middle school and both have excelled there. I believe their strong start in elementary has greatly contributed to that success. There are numerous events sponsored by the PTO. This is a school with very active parents and staff. It is great to have my children enjoy going to school and anticipate all the great events they are able to participate in.

My fourth and youngest child is in his last year at Childs Elementary. My oldest started there in second grade when it first opened. Our family has had such a wonderful experience. Their instruction has been top notch, preparing them for middle and high school where they have all been very successful. The level of community spirit and involvement is above and beyond! The PTO sponsors many events, clubs and activities. We love this school and will be sad to leave. It really is like a family!

After much research after deciding to relocate from another county in Michigan, we settled on this area. I was determined to have my child in Child's after reading the reviews and talking to a few people in the area. She has attended from 2nd grade and is now in 5th. The experience has been great!. The curriculum is challenging. There is a no tolerance policy for bullying or aggression in the school that is actually followed. My child participates in a peer assistance program that I believe builds character in which she helps children in her class with special needs. I would recommend the school.

I'm a former student here. I must say out of my month of Redner, Middle School, and my few months so far of High School, Childs was the best school I've gone too. The teachers were great, the Friendship Group I was in to help me express my emotions as I had problems with that after my speech problems. The classes were fun too, though the school dropped several of the fun activities some of the grades did the year I got in... The food was probably the worse part though, I don't like Aramark. I've had a rock hard pancake once for LUNCH, and you're given a couple the a little bigger than the size of your fists. The lunches in the Middle and High school are like no diffrent though. Thankfully the lunch staff were great and the playground was great. Sadly though I returned it a few years later to see a few things looking in need of cleaning or repair, but thats 8 years for you.

I have had four children attend Childs. I and my children have loved every teacher we have gotten. The teachers and staff are very involved and care about all of the students. They have many extras for the children to be involved in, which includes a musical, fun night, concerts, environmental club, literacy nights, etc. Regarding previous comments on the PATT organization. I found that in prior years they did not seem as welcoming, but they have undergone new leadership and I feel that they are very welcoming and open to new ideas. I highly recommend this school and am looking forward to another year there.

Childs has been a great experience for my children. They are challenged academically in a friendly atmosphere. I know many teachers at Childs and all of them are skilled, hardworking, and generally care about every child in the school.

My son attended child's from 1st through the majority of 4th grade. The teachers he had were great...in particular, Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. Fisher (Furterer). The school has had huge problems with leadership though. I was very active in the PAT, but I feel the majority of the PAT members are not welcoming to new parents and their ideas. Being quite rude to them at times. The district overall provides a subpar education. While my son attended the school, I felt it lacked academically, and soon realized how greatly it lacked when we moved to a new state. At my son's new school, I was thrilled to see they were using the same math program. I was then shocked to find out that Child's was over 100 pages behind (30 units/lessons!) behind the new school! Child's overall was a disappointing experience. I'm glad our son no longer attends there.

The 2005-2006 school year was my son's first experience at Child's Elementary. He attended a different Lincoln school for Kindergarten and First grade. We can't say enough good things about this past year. We loved it! We especially loved our teacher, Kathy Bailey, She was the best teacher we've had by far! She cared for the students and made learning fun. She was able to handle situations in the classroom, rather than send notes home about minor situations. The Child's staff was helpful and friendly. The building is beautiful and the extra events that the school held were really fun. The only downfall I've experienced so far is the PAT organization. Not very friendly or open to new faces. If you're interested in attending Child's, you will be pleased with what you find!

My son is a 2nd grader at Child's - everyone from his teacher, Mrs. Bailey, to the special education teachers, to the cafeteria and secretary staff, has been exceeding my expectations since he started there. Everyone is helpful, compassionate and willing to go the extra mile to make my son feel special. The special education group have been able to help my son with math, reading and language. He is making huge strides. His teacher, Mrs. Bailey, is creative, loving and geninuely interested in the success of each child. We are very happy our son goes to Child and we highly recommend this school to everyone we know.

We relocated to the Lincoln District 2 years ago. My son was attended Childs the first year it opened. As with anything new it takes a while for things to get in order ex, the busses. This is the 3rd year for the school to be open and things are right where they should be. I now have a daughter in the second grade and I could not be more happy with the school. It is very modern, the library is awsome and the classrooms are large, have computers and are state of the art. I have been most impressed with all the teachers. They are all wonderful and truley care about our children. Child's is a great school, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Childs is a great place to learn. The staff are all highly qualified, love children, and most go out of their way for the kids. Last year they had a Multicultural Night that was awesome. There is a lot of parent involvement, and the PAT is just one way to get involved. The building is relatively new, but the kinks seem to be working their way out and things finally getting into a grove. Check out their website to see more about what's going on. If you've got a child in the school you should look forward to the brand new newsletter that will start this fall! With a brand new principal, hopefully this will be the best year ever!

The principal quit half way through the school year, which made me question the district. The leadership in the district is moving out, so maybe with new people in key positions, the district can start focusing on important things... the kids! Childs staff did an amazing job with all the transitions in their leadership and I'm proud to have my child attend Childs elementary.

To sum up my experience with Childs Elementary I'd say as a parent it's been a challenge adjusting to the way some issues are being handled by the principle and the school district. Issues such as getting a crossing guard implemeted. This school building might be new but the district has been around awhile. This elementary building was built because of growth of the new subs coming in and homes within walking distance to the school but it is taking parents complaining and a year and a quarter after the school opened to think, 'Oh ya maybe we need to get a crossing guard to help kids get across Bemis Rd. safely'. It should have been addressed before the school opened it's doors to students. Other issues I have are with the lack of equality between same-grade students, the lunch program, busing, etc. I am a parent of three attending Childs.
