Both of my children graduated from Big Lake High School and received a fine education. They were able to take classes that interested them and prepared them for their future. The foreign language teachers, physical education and English teachers had a significant impact on them.

Big Lake High School is not a school I would recommend. The school has many serious issues. The handbook is very telling as it is filled with too many rules many of which are petty and unnecessary. It filters to the school atmosphere which seems to be all about controlling the students. The curriculum is traditional and dated. The HP courses for the advanced learners are about more work instead of more rigorous work that would promote thinking. There are very few opportunities for students who need an extra challenge. Students receive little support as this school seems to be what is best for staff not students. There is also a lack of activities and meaningful opportunities for students.
