As a parent of three students who attend SCPA, I am grateful to have a school of this caliber available. Like anything worthwhile, there are sacrifices that must be made to in order to succeed. I disagree that students with IEPs are encouraged to leave/forced out. Just as with high-achieving students, parents of children with IEPs are expected to be active in their children's education; homework needs to be completed and respectful behavior demonstrated. The curriculum is rigorous for ALL students. My child has an IEP, and significant special needs. This child is THRIVING, GROWING and LOVING SCPA. Sadly, some past students (expelled for various reasons) love to denigrate SCPA and spew untruths. Others choose to take an easier path and attend the traditional public schools. It's wonderful to have school choice! However, 834 teachers jump on the "hate bandwagon " because they don't want competition. One of my favorite aspects of SCPA is they hire non-union teachers only. This allows them to remove ineffective teachers without union interference. SCPA constantly outperforms 834 schools in state testing, and does so with significantly less per pupil funding.

very difficult to deal with the administration of St. Croix Prep. The principal talks down to parents and when she is wrong she resorts to name calling. Not professional at all

teachers are either really bad or ok. staff refuses to listen to students and unlike schools i have been at respect seems to be a one way street and we seem to find it hard to listen to teachers we can always respect. That being said they have a few good teachers that have raised our rating for the school . In short while it claims to be a better than a public school i assure you the only difference is the unneeded extra homework and uniforms. We find it almost annoying that they seem to think we DONT have lives outside of our school.
