Lockard deserves this because they are working hard to involve the community and the community is stepping up. This year over a hundred people from the community have volunteered to be mentors. The mentors ech give one hour a week to work one on one with their mentees. A spring up would help greatly to help the school in reaching its' potential.

My school is wonderful. We have active parents that care. Lockard Elementary is the home of the C.A.R.E.S. mentoring program, The mentoring program helps children on the school that are having problems that range from social , emotional, and academic. Students are paired with community volunteers that mentoring a child . We have 0ver 55 mentors and is close to reaching our goal of a hundred.
