I am a parent of a child at Richton, we love this school. All the staff at the school are very caring and concerned with each child. Most of the teachers are very involved with one-on-one time if needed and I feel that most of them thrive for excellence out of each student. The town is very small and there are in and out crowds but I feel like each child is treated with the upmost respect and one of the best educations possible.
Compared to the other schools in this area it is by far the best. Parent involvement is encouraged and teachers are easy to talk to and more that willing to work with parents and students to resolve any issues. Education is a priority as well as Safety and Discipline. Overall it is a very good school.
My children have both attended this school and we are not a part of the 'in' crowd. They have both been treated very well and are receiving an excellent education. Small classes are great. I believe that parents who are truly involved in their children's education, their children will be better for it, and teachers feel better knowing that the parents care about what goes on from day to day. Support our teachers and be at the school every chance you get. We should all be thankful that this is still a school with minor problems and our kids are safe.
I am a former teacher who has experience teaching in several school settings. Richton schools have been disappointing to me. Because they are so small, they are governed in a very political fashion and not always in ways that benefit the kids. If you are not from this area, your kids may not be well-received, and you will be surprised at how political things are here. Richton is Level 5, but it lacks many of the classes that are offered elsewhere - no music, art, PE is not structured at all. It is safe, however, and if you like a VERY small town mindset, it may be for you.
My daughter is in the 1st grade her teacher is Mrs. Holly. She tells me all the time how much she likes Mrs. Holly & likes school. My daughter is a very shy 7 year old. The school works very hard to keep their level 5 credit. Richton is a very small town school; everybody knows everybody. I've not had any major complaints about the school ..We are just getting started in school.
My children went to Richton a few years back. We had such a terrible experience. My son was way behind in reading that he had to be held back a grade. I asked the teacher many times if he needed any help and I always got the same response that he was doing fine. oy did I get a suprise when his final report card came out and he failed reading! I feel that it is a very ;political school and if you not in the 'in' crowd, you were not treated fairly.
