I am very pleased of this school. I just moved here and my daughter comes home everyday and tells me something new about this school.(it is all good stuff) She has made new friends quickly and has gotten to know her teachers very well. Its is also to my binefit to know that i have already learned about school activities and is planning on signing up to help.
I am very pleased with the Middle School and its use of block schedules. My child was disappointed to hear that it was not going to be used in the 6th grade. Being active in other school and non-school activities, block scheduling allowed an extra day to complete assignments and allowed the parents more time to help with and review these assignments. I am also very pleased with the staff at the Middle School. They are truly concerned and keep parents very informed on their childrens activities. I appreciate the amount of responsibility they place on the children to follow rules and complete assignments.
Compared to Liberty Middle school, I would have to say that Lawson Middle school far exceeds Liberty as far as taking that extra step to ensure that the student suceeds. The teachers and administrators in Lawson make sure they know each student, not just by what kind of grades they have or what sports they play, but get to know each individual student's needs. Then, they make sure that they match that student up with the proper support that he/she may need. I cannot say enough about how comforting it is to know that my son is here. I have been nothing but impressed with the middle school and the principal. Mr. Penning takes the extra time to make sure he knows each student personally. I really feel that my son is getting the best education possible.
