As a former student I would not send my children to this school. If you are not a wealthy family who is capable of contributing to the school don't expect much. My family was not as well off as others and my school life was miserable. I hated classes,I hated my teachers and going to church and after school activities were the same they did not harbor a Christian attitude to everyone it was better than my option of Normandy but I could have done so much more if teachers believed in me and helped me. My confidence was shattered every year by a teacher who would make fun of the way you did or didn't do something. All in all if you want your child to learn a true Christian attitude choose a different Christian school.
I do not think chastising the student that had traded with another to do the free will offering was necessary. Children's feelings are valuable. She praised the one who had done track but chastised another in front of the whole audience. Maybe she thought it was cute but the child and her parents mostly likely did not. I do not believe it creates a Christian atmosphere and my cause a decline in enrollment. Lastly the students put a lot of time to perform why do they have so much homework on a night when they are expected to be at school?
Our Redeemer has been under new leadership since last school year. Since then, the school has made a complete (and positive) transformation! This has turned into the school we've wanted it to be for our kids. We couldn't be happier with the school!
I personally love Our Redeemer. My kids have gone there since preschool and they are now in 4th and 5th grade. I love the individual attention to each child and their concerns for the personal, religious, educational growth. This school is my back bone. The amount of support given is outstanding. My kids have more of a chance at a good education at Our Redeemer. I send them there because I know the staff cares and they will uphold good values and teach them to my children and keep them safe. My kids know they care. It's one big family as long as you let it be.
The leadership at this school leaves something to be desired. The students can 'get away' with anything they want with minimal/no recourse. They advertise scholarships are available, but when a church member family falls behind in tuition payments, they resort to sending nasty letters home. The lower grade teachers (K-4) are wonderful and very caring, but the middle school grade teachers are lacking.
My children have attended this school for over 6 years now and we are very pleased. The teachers and principal are great! We have a new computer & science lab, new playground equipment and most importantly, they are getting an excellent education. I feel that my kids are safe and are challenged with the projects that are assigned and in a Christian atmosphere!
Our redeemer has gotten a bad wrap in the past but is now and over the past few years, has been under new leadership. The principal has done a great turn around with the school and is at every function. Not only is he but his entire family is involved. They make it appoint to get to know you & your child personally. There has been so many wonderful changes with the school over the past few yeras. Beautiful murals painted in the classrooms (each one a different theme), a beautiful new computer & science lab. The children have art & science fairs, spelling bees, band, choir & hand bells. I also love the Christian atmosphere and the involvement with the church. If you want your kids to get a great education, good morals with a Christian backround, Our Redeemer is the school for you!
I attended this school and my child attends the school now. It has maintained it's high standards to education and also to prepare your children spiritually in God's word. The new computer and science labs are wonderful. The fact that they combined classes when enrollment was down, only shows their dedication to the students. They could have just closed the school. They kept it open and fought to get the improvements that they have accomplished this year. Children are taught general classes such as music, art, gym and religion as a group. Math, science etc. are taught to individual classes. Great school!
My child has been at this school for quite a number of years. They have done so many cutbacks due to no funds. They are also combining classes next year due to lack of enrollment and loss of current students. I believe a private school is the better choice, just not Our Redeemer.
I was baptized, confirmed, and married at this church. I went to this school from preschool through 8th grade. My daughters were baptized here, and have been attending since preschool. They are now in 2nd and 4th grades. I had the same preschool and eighth grade teachers they have now, which gives you an idea of the loyalty and love these teachers have for our children. I truly believe that this is the absolute best school for my children to have the highest level of education while learning the best Christian values. It is so clear that these teachers love the kids. I believe they teach using positive reinforcement instead of harsh discipline, unless absolutely necessary. My girls love the teachers they have had. I believe Our Redeemer is producing highly intelligent, compassionate, and well-rounded young adults with great Christian values. We wouldn't send our girls anywhere else. God Bless You,
My children attended Our Redeemer through 8th grade. I found the teachers to be supportive and caring. Academic standards were high but attainable. Each of my children adjusted easily to high school due to the strong academics from their grade school years. Tuition at that time was (and likely still is)comparable to other Lutheran schools in the area. Scholarship money was available as well. Our Redeemer's staff worked with our children and us to provide them with an outstanding Christian education.
My child has been going to ORLS since preschool and we're very happy with the teachers and faculty! The school has so much to offer!
My son has been going to Our Redeemer for 4 years. I am disappointed with the lack of Christian attitude among the staff, parents and children. The teachers have been rude year after year making me think that private school is not the better alternative. There have been numerous incidents on the playground which is essentially the parking lot because the children are not watched carefully by the staff. The only good thing that I can say about this school is that the music program is good. I am dissapointed in this school.
I am a former student/member of Our Redeemer. If you want your child to be taught Christian values, this is not the place to go. No one in this school/church practices any value what-so-ever, except hypocrisy and love for money. Several of those teaching here do not have degrees or teaching licenses. Discipline is lacking. Childen are assigned to advanced classes according to their connections and family relations, not merit. This place made me hate school and I became lethargic in my studies. Public school is a much better choice of education than this place.
Our redeemer lutheran school was very good for our children. They received personal attention that public schools lack. Unfortunately the cost is very steep. When we fell behind in tuition, they resorted to such tactics, as sending embarrasing letters home with the children, and ultimately drove us away with humiliation. I firmly belive that God does not want, or need my money. To suggest that my christianity comes at a cost is unethical, and to suggest so in written form leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.
I don't think you really want to know what goes on at that school. I went there for nine years, and I can tell you the truth. Although they do not lie about the classrooms and the size of the classes If you do not make alot of money, or your kids come from a broken home, this is not the school for them.
