My son and me love this school. The teachers are very nice and friendly and give the students alot of attention. They get small group in math and reading and he didn't get that kind of attention in the public school or in the other charter school he was at before. This is his third school but I think we found where he is going to stay until 8th grade. The school does alot to help the kids. They go on alot of field trips and have special family nights like movie night, bingo, grandparents day, book fair night. This year they had culture night and had food and crafts and stuff for the kids from around the world. People who are mad probably had bad kids that got put out. The school doesn't play with behavior.
I am reading some negative reviews on here but normally people do not post in less they are upset about something. To be very honest with you if you are considering this school for your child it is a better alternative to the surrounding district. We sent our son because of the state SLPS and we could not find a privet school that was not religiously affiliated in the area. So far this school has been great. We have had no issues. Our son is preforming on grade level and has never had a staff member act in a disrespectful or inappropriate manner. The PTO could be stronger but the woman running it seems a little busy. They do have family events like movie night, grandparents day, etc. and people show up! The ones complaining are more then welcome send their kids to Slps or move to the county if they are so upset. As for the police being called it's called HIPPA you can not disclose information about a minor to someone who is not their parent. Be happy they stay in the guide lines. I am sure that you would not want someone knowing personal things about your child. If it was something major they legally would have had to let you know.
The administration of this school is unprofessional and has no idea how to inspire the leadership they are supposed to be teaching. The current principle is not someone you want directing your child's education. Great teachers but poor leadership. I would look elsewhere.
My son has attended Carondelet Leadership Academy since its opening 4 years ago. The teachers that he has had are excellent in quality. They have taken the time to nurture him to the best student he can be. Ms. Apryll Mendez has been an extraordinary principal since changing hands. My son has a medical condition that makes learning a little more difficult for him. Ms. Mendez has always made sure that she checks on him and encourages him when he is down. The school is such a tight community of excellent educators and excellent students.
The staff at this school should really be ashamed at themselves for the amount of gossip they do. Be thankful you are not involved, even though that statement is a true shame. PTO needs to be fully revised.
This school was good at the beginning (and there is still some great staff) but there has been a lot of teacher turnover and the leadership has deteriorated (teacher turnover likely related to leadership deterioration). There has also been a lot of student turnover. It's a step up from city schools but at times not by much. I've encountered far better leadership at one of the worst city schools. Look elsewhere...
This school is a prayer answered. My son came from STL City Public Schools which were a complete nightmare. All the staff at CLA have a geniune care for the children's well being and education. My son receives special ed services and the staff is wonderful. I highly recommend this school to any and everyone!!
