I have just read some of these reviews and felt compelled to respond. My daughter was a resident of Turning Winds for 13 months. She returned home almost 3 yrs ago. She's graduated high school and is working 2 jobs, and will be starting college soon. The transformation has been phenomenal - she has goals, ambition and a desire to succeed in life, something I thought she might never have. Most important she has learned how to be real, to have feelings, compassion, empathy for others. The decision to send her to Turning Winds I can honestly say was the most difficult decision her father and I have ever had to make. 3 years on we can say with complete conviction it was the best decision we could have ever made. My husband and I had to deal with family and close friends who felt that our decision was not necessary; she was going through a phase and would grow out of it. We knew that wasn't the case, had we not made this decision I am certain our child would no longer be with us.Thank You to Turning Winds Academic Institute, thank you to the wonderful, compassionate staff that facilitated the transformation of our child. This could never have happened without you.

I am not sure just what the negative review below is about. I wish I could talk to this parent. Turning Winds Academic Institute is an amazing program and it has changed my life. It has made me a better person and completely changed my family. Turning winds does not have 1 teacher for 40 students. I am not trying to invalidate this parents review, but I do wish that the truth be known. Last time I visited the campus, they had 6 full time teachers and many others assisting in the classroom.

I just wanted to write and tell you how very pleased I am with the progress of my Son, Jake, in your program. Jake has gone from an angry, uncommunicative and destructive child to a real joy to be with. The program has brought out so many wonderful qualities in Jake that have been suppressed for many years. I had the best 3 days with my Son since he was 2 years old. Thank you!!!! From the beginning phone call to the first visit, the entire staff has demonstrated a genuine caring for our entire family. Each and every one of them have treated me with kindness during this difficult decision to place him in this program. They always have time to answer any questions or concerns and put my concerns at ease. TWAI truly cares about the children and the families they serve. They are a "Solution" not a band-aid to the children and families in their program. Thank you, Turning Winds Academic Institute, for giving my Son the tools and the guidance that he needed to start his road to being a successful member of society."

Making the decision to send my teen to the Turning Winds Academic Institute has been close to the hardest thing I have ever done. It was stressful and overwhelming and at it seems like such a last resort. In my heart I loved my son so much I knew that I needed to do something more then I was capable of doing on my own...The healing that has taking place in his heart is so amazing to see. Seeing where he is right now and the steps that he has taken and the things that he has accomplished have made this sacrifice worthwhile. All of the staff at Turning Winds work really well together and they provide a great environment for the kids. In short it's been one of the best things we've done for our family.

I owe everything to Turning Winds Academic Institute. Because of them my son is back on track and is about ready to graduate from the masters program at The University of Colorado with a degree in psychology. I have no regrets! I wish them the best in all they do. I wish there were more people out there that cared as much about struggling teens.
