Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Well this is going to be our first year at Bartlett. So far the office staff has been helpful and polite. Looking forward to what should be a great year!!

I think the school is great because of the teachers and people in the office.

Bartlett is a great place for students to learn. The administration and staff are all dedicated to the learning and best interest of all students. Parents are always welcome to volunteer.

Our two children have attended Bartlett for the past four years, and we absolutely love this school and its staff. A great school begins with strong leadership, and we are fans of the principal and the high standards she holds her staff and students to. Our kids have been fortunate to have exceptional teachers during our time at Bartlett, and of the six teachers we have experienced with our two kids, only one was anything less than outstanding. Bartlett has a strong and active PTO, and the teaching staff has always been welcoming and open to our desire to be involved as parents. We would pull our kids and send them to private school in a second if we had even the slightest concern about their experience here, but Bartlett has been wonderful to our kids and we are proud to be Bartlett parents!

I really am happy with this school. The teacher really work with your child no matter what level they are on. Parents are encouraged to help in the classroom. Art and Music is still a priority which I feel is so important. Love this school.

This school is good, but they have issues as well. The best thing I can say is this school has an awesome PTO. I have two children who attend Bartlett and the PTO is always doing something. I wish I could join and be more active, but currently I am not able. The principal is okay, she would probably be much better for a middle school and not elementary, but we can't choose the principal. The teachers I have experienced have all been wonderful. They do their best with the limitations they have to work with. I do NOT like the whole "all kids must do the same thing" routine, in fact I hate that, but its not the teachers fault, that is a district rule. The front office staff have been known for being rude, but I can honestly say in the past 2 months, I have noticed a huge difference. Overall, this school is one of the best and I wouldn't take my kids out. I would like to see more extra work given to kids who are struggling in certain areas for practice. As a parent, I should know my child is struggling before I get a report card with a low grade. There are too many communication tools for them to not be used properly.

I brought my daughter here after 4 years in private school, and "we love it"! I think this is one of the best schools around, my daughter has not been happier. The teachers are nice and encourage them to do their best. If you are looking for a new school in the Henderson area I would highly recommend Bartlett!

My son has attended this school for two years, just completing the first grade. The teachers have been great, encouraging and firm at the same time. The reality is that every child in one grade is different and we cant have a "one size fits all curriculum. With this being the case, its up to parents to raise their children which includes education. There are outside classes, summer school, libraries, camps, etc... which are available to help your child exceed or "catch up". I take it upon myself to stay involved with my child's education. He is held accountable and as a result understands that his input affects the outcome. I stay involved in the classroom and school, the kids in his class all know who I am. This school has been a great foundation so far and highly recommend it. Education is more than dropping a child off at the door.

My daughter attended Bartlett for a few months and I was disappointed in how we were treated. The teacher was nice but didn't seem to know much about my child when I would ask questions. My daughter did not seem to learn much and was really behind in reading. The front desk staff was generally nice but the biggest issue was with the principle. We just felt as if she was rude and didn't make an effort in resolving our issues for the best interest of our child. My daughter is now in a great school where she was immediatly put in a special reading program and has excelled beyond my expectations.

I agree with the person who posted on 4/14/10. I have a child in the first grade and we love this school. The teachers are wonderful and each child is assessed and taught according to their ability. The new principal is fantastic and within 2 months of her tenure, she created programs for gifted children as well as for special needs. Also, the front office staff are VERY friendly and helpful and I've never had any problems with them. Maybe if you're nice to them, they'll be nice to you!!!

I am very happy to have one student have attended and one that currently attends. The students do not do exactly the same work as all students do. Both of my children have excelled here and would recommend this school to any parent. The focus is that all students can and will learn by different ways to make them successful. This is due to the new principal assigned this year.

I am sorry that my child attended this school. Administration and office staff are EXTREMELY unfriendly, both to students and to parents. All students in the same grade must do the exact same work, regardless of their ability. My child was held back because they were ready to move on, but the principal is so focused on special education students that they neglect the students who are gifted. My child is now at a better school, and is happier and more challenged.

This school is very 'hands-off' mentality. Parents aren't welcome. Don't help your child. That's our (teachers') job, but we don't do it. No feedback until progress report time. They do NOT want you to know what the children are doing in class; they don't want you assisting your children, even if they need help learning concepts. This has been the theme through the grades. Some teachers don't even send home graded work so students can know if they're meeting standards. Six book reports, no grade yet. The front office staff are extremely rude. The one exception (Andrea, nurse) is gone now.

I had two children attend this school. My oldest child had the most wonderful experience. She loved going to school each day to learn and looked up to her wonderful teachers. Then a change in administration occured, and it seemed to me the culture of the school changed. Perhaps this is due to so many of the 'fun' teachers leaving. Needless, to say my youngest didn't look forward to going to school, and I didn't feel as comfortable in the school as I once had. Hey we got through it!

My child attended bartlett for 2 yrs. And had an average experience. I agree that this school lacks the ability and care in attending to children with special needs. The front office staff are terrible at dealing and welcoming everyone especially the children. This is your job...If you don't like it find something else to do!

After being at Bartlett for almost 3years the office staff has not improved. Try saying 'please' and 'thank you' to the students. The office tone to the chilren is very condesending and rude. This is our future, why are we so hatful to the kids? If you dont like your job, go home and spar us all the drama Its a shame the school lost so many of the districts best teachers last year. Best of luck to those who have decided to stay.

The front staff is still not as friendly as they should be to parents or the children. Not the school if you have a child with special needs. Not the school if you want to be involved.

Bartlett was one of the best schools in the district. Every grade level had master teachers preparing each student for the following year. This school year 2007 about 18 of those excellent teachers that made Bartlett great are leaving. I am relieved that my child no longer attends there. I would consider a zone variance to another school. Best of luck to all those outstanding teachers who are leaving or who have left and God bless the ones staying.

I love this school! My daughter is in 1st Grade, and this is her first year at Bartlett. I really appreciate the fact that her teacher is well-organized, and really works with me to help my child do her best. Also, everyone from the principal to the office staff to the parents directing traffic are really friendly. Wonderful school, I would definitely recommend it.

Bartlett is a good school that achieves high in the state. There is a lot of parent involvement. The curriculum is determined by the CCSD and is good for the mediocre student. The GATE program is really good just wish it was an all day program as the principal doesn't promote advanced learning, and prefers that teachers direct their lessons to the average student with extra help to the struggling students.

I, too, think that Bartlett is a wonderful school. My child attended the school for 3 years and now is moving on to junior high. I found the entire staff and facility to be helpful and accomadating. During enrollment, I had some special circomstances, and was completely met with sencitivity and helpfulness. I really enjoyed the personality of the office. We will miss everyone.

In our relocation the commitment to finding a quality school with high standards was a priority. Bartlett E.S. was highly recommended based on the student standardized testing scores as well as quality of instructional staff. Classroom academic content is consitent in delivery and is measured on a regular basis. Homework assignments are appropriate and challenging. The school could benefit from a second language program as well as hospitality training for the school's main office with regard to welcoming new parents/students rather than giving an rude, inappropriate and unprofessional impression.

We are extremely happy with Selma Bartlett Elementary. We moved here from another state and were shocked to find out how far behind our children were. With the help and encouragement of the teachers, our sons were able to catch up quickly. The homework that is sent home is a lot, but they learn a ton. My kids maybe spend 30-45 minutes a night on it. The teachers are the best, and they encourage and help the students achieve their highest potential. The principal has a great relationship with the kids, and really cares about them and their successes. I also agree that the front office staff needs to be a little friendlier, but if you can get past them, this is the best place your kids could go to school. I cannot say enough possitive things about this school, its principal, the nurses, and teachers. Thank You Selma Bartlett Elementary.

We too moved to this neighborhood so my children could attend Bartlett. We have never regretted that decision. The staff and teachers are very good and easy to work with. They encourage the parents to help out and the PTO works hard to encourage volunteer work. Such strong parent involvement is very helpful to the school and the students. I would highly recommend this school to anyone interested. The homework load can occasionally be challenging but we have been able to keep up with this.

We moved to the neighborhood specifically to attend this school and we were not disappointed. We feel that Bartlett has all the qualities that a great school should have. Our experience has been a positive one. There are many opportunities to shine. Science fairs, inventions, great work on behalf of the teaching staff to support and encourage the children to strive while enjoying the process. The workload is a lot, but it's do able because of the current plan, which is that homework is due on Friday instead of every evening. This gives the family the opportunity to spread the work through the week. For busy families, this strategy is really quite wonderful. The only slight negative that we, as well as many parents have, is that the front office does not always represent the school in a manner that befits such a great place. We believe that the front office is the portal to the school and we also believe that 1st impressions are very lasting, so it's been a little disconcerting that the front office seems to be so negative in it's dealings with not only the children, but the parents. A smile and a friendly demeanor would be just the ticket to bring the school to complete and total perfection. I think everyone can truly say that when people (whether children or adult) feel warmly welcomed, they would tend to be much more generous with their time and of themselves. Hope this is helpful.
