1st day at LMCA my son was18 months. He's 6 and in kindergarten. Last summer, we moved to AZ. His current Christian Academy simply lacks what we came to love at LMCA. As a family, we experienced very difficult challenges, including the loss of my son's father when my son was in PK3. The principal and his teachers not only guided my son, but also me, to find peace and a safe place through their incredible support, love, and advice. It made me realize just how important the "Christian" part of education is. Both of us coped better, and I made better choices. Yes, perhaps there is equivalent academics in a public school. I am saddened to hear some families won't be back next year, 1st grade. However, you cannot know the impact of what a child's Christian environment at school will have on their future. My son will face big challenges again - throughout life. I want him to be able to call on his faith as a Christian to help him get through those times. I don't know if we can afford LMCA next year. We are returning to NV, and I will do what I can to have him there. Also, make no mistake, the curriculum is excellent - my son reads at a 2nd-3rd grade level and not because of me.

I am alumni and now a parent of LMCA! I love the environment and the teachers are amazing! The focus of academics and the Biblical world view that they teach is so important and I love seeing what my kids come home with! The school's core values of love, security, quality and accessibility are shown daily. I would never choose another place for my children to grow up!!!

LMCA is a place where your whole family can come and be a part of the community. You will not find a better place for your children to grow and experience a wonderful education. My daughter graduated from LMCA in 2011 and my son in 2009.

LMCA has been a huge part of my family. I met my husband there and now my 4 children are able to attend. They look forward to school daily not just because they have been taught to love learning but they truly feel like it is a big family. Just like I did. LMCA has come so very far in the past 24 years. I cannot wait to see what God will do next! WE LOVE LMCA!!!!!!

I am so thankful for this amazing school and the staff. They hold a standard for teaching the students about God and how to defend their faith. My children (3) are so excited to go to school. When they were in public school it was like a nightmare everyday preparing them for school. Now they are excited to go and love learning again.

This school is amazing! I am so happy to be around other christian kids! Although the school may be great, but principal currently there, is not a very kind and welcoming person. That is the only bad thing about the school! LMCA could use a principal that is encourgeing. She is not welcoming and she could work on her people skills.

It is my first year teaching, and I am overwhelmed with the amazing support of other teachers and the school leadership. From behind the scenes, I can see that their passion is for the whole student, that they would be provided with the tools to succeed scholastically, spiritually, and emotionally in life after high school. I can honestly say that I wouldn't want to be anywhere else- I love my job and the students I get to teach!

My children have been at LMCA for seven years and we have been very happy with it. We have been here long enough to have seen many changes and are very pleased with the direction the school has headed. The administration is incredibly supportive. Although there has been a greater focus on academics in recent years (a good thing!), it has not lessened the focus on spiritual formation. Probably our favorite part of the school has been the Bible and worldview classes, and the opportunities our children have had to go on mission trips (locally, out of state, and even out of the country) to put what they have learned into practice. Our children have grown so much here and are so happy with the education they've received, the relationships they've made, and the investment they know the teachers have made in them.

I am a teacher at LMCA and I think it is the most wonderful place to send your children! We have a Christian environment, smaller and safer classes, great sports programs, challenging curriculum, excellent drama department, great music department for elementary...the list goes on! We have an excellent before and after school program that also includes summer, Christmas break, and spring break. If you are looking for a place where your children will receive a total education, LMCA is the place. Our goals for your family will be love, quality, safety, and accessibility.

LMCA is a great school! It is unique in the fact that there is so much love on this campus, yet it does not distract from education. The students were overwhelmingly welcoming when I first started working here last year. I can't imagine a better place to be.

Today we celebrated life! Our entire school and family members were served an incredible homemade turkey dinner. During our meal, children and adults alike shared the reasons for their grateful hearts. LMCA is committed to educating the whole student not only academically but also through character building.

With two daughters enrolled, I must say I am thoroughly satisfied! There is a love for each student and even for our family, that is just beyond words. The staff really cares! Also, I cannot believe what the girls are learning. They are both in elementary, but the curriculum is advanced and the critical thinking skills they are learning are just amazing. I would highly recommend this school. Take a tour and you will be sold!!

LMCA is an amazing school and community in Henderson, NV. It is a place where our kids are loved and safe. You cant put a price on education when your child comes home happy and always excited to go to school. We are so thankful to have such a great school in the Vegas Valley. Our kids go on a week long mission every spring time. Last year they had 7 places they could pick from. My oldest went to serve in Guatemala and my other child went to Canada. They came back with a different outlook on life and how others live. Thank you Lake Mead Christian Academy... our family loves this school!!! <3

This was my sons first year at lmca.As a parent I feel the principle needs to do a better job on hiring teachers. I paid thousands of dollars and received a public school education. The classes were small so you would think the teacher would be able to give individual attention. Nope she was very unorganized and played favorites. Which is not the Christian way . Very disappointed.

I am a teacher at LMCA. There are lots of great things I could say about our school, but I'd like to focus on our relationship with our families. We promote community building among our staff and parents, and while we may not have perfected it yet, we are building strong relationships. In March my brother had a stroke, and not expected to live. The parents in my classroom rallied around and purchased an airline ticket for me to go spend time with my brother! We have become a family, we share in each others heartaches and blessings. Building strong community is the tie that binds us! I love knowing that families from my class feel the freedom to come to me with a need, a praise, or prayer request. These type of relationships make it easy for families to continue at LMCA. Everyone wants to feel loved, and every parent wants to know their child is loved! This is a portion of life at LMCA! Are we a perfect school? Of course not! And we are not perfect people! But we do strive to be our best for The Lord Jesus Christ! Come check us out!

My Daughter has been enrolled @ LMCA since she was 4 yrs old. She will enter into 4th grade for the 2013/2014 school year. The staff is phenominal! There is much love and encouragement by all who work and attend the school! The Holiday Breaks / Summer Program is also something we look forward to. There is a great vision for the new High School Building. Its good to see a school that continues to re-give funds to itself for continued growth.

LMCA is a hidden gem in the Henderson Valley. There are so many wonderful things about the school that make it unique. I read a few of the negative posts on this site and the facts are not correct. One of the things our family loves most about LMCA is that it accepts kids that are not Christians. They are there to minister to ALL kids and of ALL ages. Is it a perfect school? No, but it is an amazing school!!! The Alumni go off to college and after graduation they return to teach and serve in the ministry they love. I suggest you go to LMCA for a tour and make your own opinion about the school. See it in action, meet the wonderful staff, teachers and even observe the students. This school is not about the money, yes there are cost and expenses that every private school has but the staff is there to serve God. My kids never stepped foot in public school, I have seen parents who made the decision to let there kids go to public school but I have also seen them come back per their child's request. It is far from a "typical school", both of my kids are in college and doing extremely well and were very prepared for college. They also prepared them to defend their faith in the world.

As a parent, I could not be more happy with the school. The results show. Their students go on to college, complete, and do well. They educate the whole child- academically, emotionally, spiritually, and socially. Their worldview and missional training is incredible and the alumni speak of those experiences and classes often and with high praise. They don't compromise at all. They know that Christians can have a fabulously strong education and be solid in their faith at the same time.

The school is more about your money more than teaching. They like to try and squeeze as much money out of you as they can. As far as the education, it is nothing to rave over. Many teachers are not qualified to teach and don't have degrees (I have seen students graduate, only to come back and teach the very next year). For elementary school, the education is fine. For everything higher, you are better off going to public school. As with the students, it is just a typical school that just happens to have the extra Bible class. Many parents put their kids in the school thinking that it is a better school with better parents. But when many parents do that, well, you have a lot of non Christians there, and guess what, makes it all the same as a public school, except hoping that the extra Bible class will somehow change them. Really, it isn't better than anything you would get at a public school. In the end, you are better off attending another school.

LMCA is the best place to send my child. From the Admin Staff, the teahers to the parents, it is a loving, family atmosphere. LMCA is a blessing to our family and a wonderful environment for a child to blossom in a safe, bully free atmosphere. The kids all love each other and the willingness to help, comfort and guide is amazing!

My daughters are currently in their second year of elementary school at LMCA. I couldn't ask for a more supportive environment for my children. We switched to LMCA after having tried our best with the local public school and finally left after my frustration with an apathetic principal, less than challenging curriculum, and insane class sizes. LMCA offers a challenging curriculum. You aren't getting the high powered curriculum you would get at some other private schools, but unless you want to pay 3 times the price, you can't beat it. It is definitely more challenging than public school curriculum. The small class sizes, a school community with similar values regarding education, and wonderful teachers make LMCA a jewel. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating is due to the fact that I feel more hands-on learning, and less worksheets, could be used. I do see more inventive instruction being implemented at this time so I am hoping this trend continues. We aren't an overly religious family but LMCA was a good fit for us. A caring staff, dedicated faculty, a quality education, and an involved school community makes LMCA a wonderful decision for any family.

This was our first year at LMCA, and my son, 7th grade, loved it! The teachers are kind, well educated, and the academic program is outstanding. The sports program is awesome! The administrative staff is wonderful! The kids just returned from a week long missions trip. I can't say enough good things about this school. My son previously attended another private Christian school in Henderson and I only wish we would have made the change to LMCA earlier! You will not be disappointed with LMCA, check it out. Your child can shadow another student for a day, which is an awesome opportunity for them to see what the school is really like.

This is year six for my daughter and our son is in his fourth year. Some complain of the cost, trust me for a private education in a state that ranks at the bottom, the cost is minimal. Lake Mead serves us well with a balance of Christian teaching and mentoring, with scholastic studies in a smaller manageable classroom sizes. Not every private school will be able to meet every parents personal needs or desires. You need to be realistic and also visit other private schools, compare and find the right fit for your family. The student dress code is appropriate, the cheerleaders uniform length SHOULD be longer (it's currently the same as public schools). I find the teachers to be attentive, well educated, caring and in complete control of their classrooms upon numerous unannounced classroom visits. Parent involvement is surprisingly strong. Go inspect the condition of the school's buildings, meet with the staff, review the student study programs. Obtain documentation, get all the answers to any of your concerns. Do your own research, and investigation, listen to your head and your heart, then make your choice.

Reading the previous review, I am saddened. The middle school at LMCA is way ahead of the rest. From the college prep English classes, to the science and the history, not to mention their BIble classes... you could not ask for a better place for a middle school student. Middle school students are going through so much change and LMCA is a great place for them to be placed. It provides an environment where the proper tools are taught and given for these students to make the right decisions that will affect their lives forever. The entire middle school is on missions trips this week, teaching valuable lessons on top of academics on how to make a positive difference in this world!! I highly recommend LMCA for any middle school parent.

This is my child's second year at LMCA and I think it will be the last. I don't feel like he is getting a private school education. The teacher's are not highly qualified and they rarely teach the same subject year to year. Speaking with other parents, they are happy in the younger grades but not so much with middle school. I feel like he can get just as good of education in a public school.

I have three children at LMCA and I could not ask for a better community to put them in. Their teachers are supportive and kind. I am impressed everyday with the new things my children tell me they learned at school. My oldest is in 1st grade and in just this year she went from a first grade reading level to a third grade reading level. They offer many enrichment classes ranging from music lessons to PE. I would wholeheartedly recommend this school for the whole family.

WE LOVE LMCA!!!!! This is our son's 1st year at LMCA for 7th Grade. He had previously attended another private school for 1-6 grade, and we thought it was time for a change. From the 1st interactions with everyone at LMCA we felt like FAMILY. From school Administration, to staff, teachers, other parents, and students - there is a feeling of "belonging" and love there. So glad we made the move - For those "on the fence" about a private christian education, please take a look at LMCA - you will be very pleasantly surprised at what they have to offer, and the love you will receive when you get there!!

A very worldly Christian school. They don't set themselves apart much and its very confusing to the students. Some teachers I would have to say are not saved and their attitude and dress confirm it. There is no modesty. Students wear very tight fitting and sometimes really short clothes. Cheerleaders wear the same thing as secular cheerleaders do. Like I said, no modesty. This school isn't biblical enough for my family. Too worldly!

My children went to Public School until 5th grade when I switched them to LMCA. I did this primarily because I was so disappointed with the class sizes of our zoned middle school. It was the best decision I ever made. My boys have thrived as students, individuals, and leaders way beyond my expectations. I hear a lot of parents talk about the cost.... My response is what is the cost to you if you fail at educating your children. It was not an option for me. If I have to give up certain things for the years my boys attend LMCA, I will do it without hesitation. It has been a very wise investment for us in our Childre's future. A+ to the administration, A+ to the teachers, and A+ to the students at LMCA

This school, I went to I really strongly dislike it, the kids there are very into clicks, and they are really rude and not nice, some of the staff are stuck up and they have had more then 4 principals in 4 years, its ridiculous. there dress code is nothing but a joke, they wanted access into teachers and student's personal, lives what you do at home and school should never mix in my opinion, the school just cares about money and not students, it's god based but how many adults and kids talk about jesus there not very many. it's a terrible school with terrible kids and stuck up staff.

Our daughter has been in the school since she was in the nursery. I have felt that she was always loved, cared of and educationally challenged. She is now ready for kindergarden and can already read! I am amazed. Additionally, the spiritual instruction is excellent. She has recieved moral training, biblical training, and appropriate correction (not overly strict or lienient) when necessary. I love this safe and loving preschool. I can't wait to see how she will thrive in lake mead's elementary program.

Great school. I have been attending LMCA for over 4 years. I am very proud to call LMCA my school. The teachers are committed to us and love what they do. I have seen them invest in me as a student and care about who I am. My favorite part is the technology. Our school is a 1 to 1 Apple Laptop school.... I JUST LOVE IT!!! All of middle school and high school have laptops 24/7.... I know that when I go off to college I will be ready for what is ahead.

I have been a long time parent at LMCA. I find the administrator helpful and a guide to spiritual parenting. As for the previous comment regarding the "firing" of the principal, if only people would find out the true facts before splatting venom on public domain. Perfect? Not at all. The abundance of teachers that invest their lives into students lives, the encouragement they receive, not to mention the education, that is available, that makes LMCA a viable option for your child.

I am not sure what is happening at this school, It use to be such a great place but now they have fired their principal for the mere fact that a child did not live up to their standards. They are cutting depts. and jobs and just leaving us all to wonder if it will be worth paying for what they have leftover. I do not think that we will be back next year.

What's not to love? Small class sizes; teachers that make an investment in their students; a wonderful and growing athletics program; academic caliber that prepares students for college; and a continual emphasis on making an impact in the community. LMCA is one of those schools you graduate from, and then either go back to serve on staff or send your children there because you have to a part of this incredible ministry. LMCA will have an impact for many generations to come!

Our family is very pleased with this school. My daughter had an amazing experience in the full day kindergarten. This is her 2nd year at LMCA and she's receiving good academic instruction along with technology, art and music in addition to biblical instruction. The staff is wonderful. My son is also there in the preschool and I disagree with the earlier review that there is no curriculum, my son is getting instruction, he comes home everyday with the work he's done and I'm already seeing the difference in him from his other preschool. We are very happy with this school and the education and values provided.

We have been involved at LMCA for 9 years. It exists to promote a biblically based, Christ like character in its students and has an outstanding missions emphasis. Students as young as 7th grade may take part in foreign short term missions trips. My children have also been challenged academically by the high standard of performance that is expected and they have always risen to the challenge! It is awesome for me to see my 8th grader taking total responsiblity for her homework assignments as well as taking part in extra curricular activities. The school is progressive in that, it evaluates the curriculum and updates as needed in order to help equip students who must live in the 21st century. They have a technology program where students as young as 7th grade have their own Mac laptops and elementary students have a computer class.

LMCA is more than a school it is a community. It is committed to partner with parents not only to encourage children to grow academically but also spiritually and in character to prepare them for life outside of a classroom. The school has brought so much to my family. I have a LMCA graduate now in college and one soon to graduate serving this summer in the Amazon Jungle. They were trained for both at LMCA.encouraged for both at LMCA. It ministered to my entire family during the time of illness and a death in the family far beyond expectation. It has what has kept us in the area for the last six years. I'd encourage anybody looking more than a school, but an extended family, to consider Lake Mead Christian Academy.

My 4 year old is in the pre-K class and I was skeptical at first, but I must say I am very impressed. At 4 she's able to read many simple words and write simple words in cursive as well! I am very happy with this progress because my other older daughter went to Sewell and was lucky to write in cursive or read by 1st grade. Now she's going to Brown JHS and I'm looking to switch her to LMCA due to many problems there. For the parents that have reviewed LMCA negatively here, I must say compared to the alternatives in this area, LMCA is great and we're lucky to have it here!

LMCA likes to pride themselves on academics, but their true focus is on ministry. Several times school communication has included typographical and grammatical errors. Their ratios are similar to nearby public schools. Their early education department is more like a daycare with minimal curriculum added. The communication with parents is minimal at best. Teachers have come and gone throughout the year and not once was communication given to parents. Not even an introduction of the new staff to parents. Of the teachers that have been stable all of them appear truely invested and loving with the students.

I have been a parent at LMCA for 10 years now and fell that over the past 2 years the school has grown too much. I used to feel as though Bible and education came forst and they would go above and beyond to help them succeed. Now, money has become their priority. Their enrollment is too high, tuition continues to rise, additional 'donations' are mandatory, teachers are stretched too far. My daughter is not doing well in this school due to the fact that they are not strict enough (too easy going) and unlike public school, if they need any type of tutoring it is also an extra charge. Yes, they have a great Christian foundation.

Biblically based school which produces strong Christians. PSAT scores always high, but real SAT schools average to low. Academics average - don't expect to be able to enter any of the top colleges. Very safe environment. Far better than a public school, but not as good as other private schools. School is growing -- has good and bad challenges.

It's terrible; the Bible comes before any real education.

LMCA is an amazing school that I believe is teaching my kids authentic Christianity. Like any school, it has it's flaws but the overall program is exceptional. The academics are strong and have placed my children ahead of the average public school student by one to two years consistently according to the annual SAT scores. I love the ministry opportunities LMCA provides to the students of all grades. I don't think my student would ever have gotten a chance to travel overseas and serve people in third world countries at any other school. The greatest part is the impact foreign missions has had on my child. He not as concerned about himself and really wants to help other people now. That kind of education is priceless!

Lake Mead Christian Academy has teachers who are very caring yet they hold the students accountable for their actions. Two of my children have graduated from here and I have a child in the 11th grade. The two who have graduated say that when they have children they will attend LMCA.

This is a very biblical based program. The teachers are very well educated and have a love of what they do. Parental involvement in my sons class was great. They always had fun projects and creative learning programs going on in his K4 class.

My son attended LMCA from kindergarten through 5th grade, and another son attemded through 2nd grade, until we moved from the area. LMCA is academically aggressive and Biblically based. The teachers have high standards, as does the administration. Music, art, and sports are available as electives and are well run. The focus is on academics, and there is quite a bit of homework. My children scored exremely well on the yearly SAT tests compared to the national average (in the 70, 80 and some scores even in the 90th percentile). The teachers love Christ, and they pass that love along to their students. Parental involvement is required.

About this school

LMCA offers a curriculum which is rooted in a God-centered view of life. The spiritual must permeate all areas else we become textbook-oriented rather than student-oriented. LMCA is an Apple One to One Laptop School 6th-12th Grade. Our philosophy requires the implementation of a challenging academic program - for only through this will we produce students with an excellent basic education which will equip them for any future calling of the Lord’s choosing.
