I would truely recommend this school. I have 2 kids that go there now and I really love it. The teachers and the staff at this school are wonderful. Its sad that my kids have to go to a different school next school year but I hope their new school is as better as Kesterson...
We sent our child to this school for only 1/2 the school year. We transferred to a different school because this school was absolutely deplorable. The front office staff was very friendly, but that's where the kindness ended. The teacher literally yelled at the students daily, showed no concern for my child's safety, and obviously was miserable with her job. The principal had the audacity to RPC my child for "gang related activity" in 1st Grade when my child was defending himself from a bully. How it was that he got in trouble for being bullied was beyond my comprehension. When we asked her about it in the conference she refused to acknowledge the facts of the case. Ridiculous. I recently spoke with another parent who pulled her child from the school for the EXACT same reason - her son was bullied and he was RPC'ed because he was taller than the other child so therefor was at fault. I don't know what the deal is there with the administration but they are seriously missing the mark. While attending that school, we had so many problems with our son's attitude regarding school - he was miserable. I would NEVER recommend this school to anyone!
Kesterson ES has the best staff & PTA ever! The teamwork is tremendous & a great role model for our children!
My twins have gone there since 1st grade, now in 5th. It's a great school!
Kesterson is a great school. We moved to Henderson from the MS Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. I was amazed at how the school had a counselor observe my daughter's school day, from the classroom to the playground to make sure she was adapting to the change and making friends. I recommend Kesterson to everyone I know!
I am very happy with this school! We have a dedicated principal that has improved the school. We are doing a lot better in parent involvement! The teacher's are great! My child and I feel safe at this school. I would highly recommend this school to everyone! I made a move to this area for this school and it was the best choice I've made since I moved here! Great school!
I have 3 children that go to this school, and I will say after half the year, I am very pleased with the parent-teacher interaction. The kids love it, and I am glad that we moved into this school district!
My children have gone to Kesterson for 5 years now and they have flourished. We have always had caring teachers that are pleasant and responsive. As my oldest entered the 4th grade, I was disheartened by the large class size, but I believe you will have that at any public school. I have no regrets about my children being in this school. I also agree with the someone previously that enjoys the events they have throughout the year for families. I wish I could attend PTA meetings, but my schedule does not permit. I do volunteer in my child's classroom when I can though. I also agree that a huge factor in any school is the involvement of the parent. Disciplines, etc should not be left solely to the school.
I have nothing but positive things to say about the teachers and staff at this school. Everyone that I have had personal dealings with is caring and compassionate about the students. What I find appalling is the total lack of parent participation at the school. There is a pathetic sense of apathy from the parents. I have been a school volunteer for the past 5 years. Because of a recent event in our community - our PTA finally had 7 parents show up for the meeting, previously, maybe 1 parent would show up.
Although I consider this a good school, academically, I strongly question it's practices and procedures in handling discipline on all levels.
