Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Both my grandsons Trey and Luc attend Lake Tahoe School and I am so impressed by the curriculum. I attend every school function I can. I have met all of my grandsons' teachers and they are engaging, enthusiastic and highly trained educators. I am confident that my grandsons will be extremely well prepared for their secondary education, thanks to Lake Tahoe School. Heidi Loeb Hegerich, Reno

Lake Tahoe School is amazing!!! We've been at LTS since Pre-K and are now in the 6th grade. I cannot speak highly enough of all aspects of the school. My daughter has benefited from incredible teachers and wonderful staff combined with a simultaneously safe, nurturing, stimulating and yet demanding environment. The school offers an amazing facility coupled with exciting enrichment programs, after school activities and outdoor trips. Finally - and as valuable all this is delivered in a location that is truly impossible to beat: Incline Village, NV. Lake Tahoe at its finest, where community really means what you expect it to mean. Go Bobcats!

I truly believe Lake Tahoe School is a great school, a gem within an amazing location. It is filled with talented and caring instructors, capable and efficient staff, and interesting and engaging families. LTS is constantly looking for ways to better serve its students, from adjustments to the curriculum, adding different layers of technology into the programs, or creating opportunities to build character. I love that students of every age get art, music, Spanish, and science with special enrichment teachers. There is also a very strong and accomplished sports program for such a small school. The students who graduate from LTS are more than ready to move on to any high school of their choosing.

We moved to Incline from the Bay Area to pursue a better quality of life for our kids. In doing that we enrolled our kids in the LTS school. We have had a few great years there and look forward to a few more. The environment is warm/welcoming, the teachers are hands on and have an open door policy. The Enrichment Programs are incredible! The parents are invited to school a lot to see some incredible musical, play, science fair, art work, classroom poetry reading...and you sit there and say "WOW" this is what my child is capable of doing beyond the classroom. Definitely brings the goose-bumps and happy tears to the body! Keep up the amazing work LTS staff and faculty!!

Lake Tahoe School is dedicated to education of the whole child. Your child experiences hands on learning in many enriching activities, Science, Visual and Studio Arts, Music, PE, Technology, along with strong academic tradition in the core subjects. The experienced faculty is dedicated to creating a strong community of learners.

We moved to Tahoe for this wonderful school. The teachers and facility are world class with a curriculum that includes everything from strong academics to Music and the arts to an extremely strong emphasis on character development. There's a stress on having a kind environment with sensitive teachers and kind students. I've seen shy children thrive and give public presentations and happily engage in a number of sports. I'm glad we chose this school and only wish it went k-12 vs k-8 but am confident my children will be more than prepared for whichever high school we choose.

Our daughter has been at Lake Tahoe School for the past two years. The school is truly amazing in every sense of the word. The faculty and administration are enthusiastic, professional and extremely talented in their respective fields. The faculty has created a safe and engaging learning environment for students at every grade level. It saddens me to read this negative review below. My daughter is friends with the outgoing energetic and fun "bully" mentioned in the review below. The situation was handled appropriately by the administration and teachers in our opinion. We are proud to be a part of the Lake Tahoe School community!

As a faculty member, I particularly appreciate our integrated character education program. Starting in Preschool and continuing through 8th grade, we teachers work hard together and with parents to help every child grow academically and in compassion. We do not tolerate bullying; we work closely with children and their parents to further understanding and communication. LTS is a great place to work!

Lake Tahoe School has been the turning point for both our sons. Our oldest has Autism and even though there are no specific supports in place to accommodate his way of doing things the teachers and support staff are so amazingly helpful and understanding that he has thrived well beyond our expectations. The school culture is one of mutual respect, personal responsibility and a successful education. Our youngest is very smart and went unchallenged until we put him in 3rd grade here. It was a very tough start to learn how to work through challenges and stay the course to success - without the support of his teachers he would have continued to stay underdeveloped and unnoticed. Thanks so much to the staff for creating this amazing place! I want to start at kindergarten and go through each grade myself!

Lake Tahoe School is a truly amazing place where every child is known, supported, and cared for. The staff here are far and above the best I've ever worked with. This school is a superior mix of academics, character development, athletics, project-based hands-on focused lesson planning with a strong sense of community. I welcome you to come visit and get to know us:)

I have two children who attended and graduated from Lake Tahoe School. They had strong relationships with each of their teachers and enjoyed the benefits of small class size and differentiated instruction. They participated in a wonderful leadership program and have continued to lead their student bodies in high school and college. They particularly reflect fondly upon their outdoor education experiences. They learned to camp, to cook over a camp stove, back pack and leave no trace. My daughter recently took her first trip with NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) and backpacked in Washington carrying a 51 pound pack for two weeks. I can not say enough about the caring teachers, the differentiated program which enabled my children to be consistently engaged and challenged, and the outdoor adventures.

We have been a part of LTS for the past four years and been happy until this year. The teachers are wonderful but are in fear of the headmaster and losing their jobs if they speak out. This year we encountered a terrible bully situation in first grade. The situation was so bad four sets of parents approached the headmaster regarding this bully and we were all told explicitly that there was not a bullying problem. Several innocent children were going home crying everyday not wanting to return to school because this one bully girl was so calculating and mean. Throughout the year there was no compassion or action taken from the headmaster to remedy this situation. Due to the headmaster's lack of professionalism, care and desire to work towards a solution we are leaving the school. If you are interested in this school, know they have no bullying guidelines in place and the headmaster does not care enough to protect innocent children. I don't agree with the previous post regarding character development. If the administration truly cared about character development, then they would have cared enough to listen to concerned parents and address the bully and her family.

My daughter started her Lake Tahoe School education in Pre-K4 and she is currently in 1st grade. When asked how she likes school she always says she loves it. We couldn't be happier with the quality of the teachers, the administration and the curriculum, which includes well funded enrichment classes like art, Spanish, music and PE, in addition to core academics. The school's emphasis on character development and community create a wonderful, nurturing environment in which great young citizens are cultivated and great learning takes place.

My family has had children enrolled at the Lake Tahoe School for the last six years, and we couldn't be happier with it. We spent a couple of weeks in Incline during the summer of 2006, and, after visiting LTS on a whim, decided to make the move. My children love going to LTS, they are learning well above grade level, and they are growing up in a safe, nurturing environment.

Lake Tahoe School provides an environment where kids thrive academically, socially and as members of a community. Every teacher is committed to the students and well educated, which inspires a love of learning in a rigorous academic environment. Kids are held accountable as members of their school and larger community (older kids complete service hours), the environment is one of respect for self and others, and every child is known by name by teachers and staff. This is a great school if you are looking for a strong academic program that also offers a broad array of enrichment classes, small class sizes and individualized learning opportunities. I also love that the school addresses the whole child as he/she develops into a citizen of the community; it makes for a positive and nurturing environment for kids to thrive.

Lake Tahoe School is as amazing as all these reviews say. If, however, your child is a unique learner or has a learning disability, they are of little to no help. The school will, in fact, suggest you take your child to another school in this event.

Lake Tahoe School is amazing! My children have attended LTS since pre-k 3. It is one of the few schools that accelerates students in individual subjects. All students are at least one grade level ahead in math, and many are 2 grade levels advanced. The entire school has math at the same time so that students can go into their appropriate level. Reading levels are also differentiated from an early age. Class size is small, the teachers are amazing, and the outdoor educational opportunities ( rock climbing, Yosemite) amazing. This gem of a school could rival any school in the nation!

My child has attended Lake Tahoe School since Pre-K (He is now in 5th grade.) and continues to be a fabulous experience for him. There is a wonderful sense of community in this school. This is evident in the student body, faculty, and the parent body. Respecting others is an underlying theme that radiates out from all. Due to the small student to teacher ratio individual attention is something all students benefit from. There is no getting lost in the cracks or hiding in the back row all students are required to contribute in class. The teachers are outstanding and work as closely with each student, as they do each other, to make sure each student is reaching their potential while in a supportive environment. I believe that is the core of what makes the students, and the school, so successful.
