Durango is a school like all others that struggles with discipline at times. Some kids misbehave and some do not - and that's life. However, the school has many excellent teachers, great students and involved parents. Schools are only as good as their administration, teachers, kids and parents, and my children have been very satisfied with this school - and grandkids will go there too!
I go to durango and it is a O.K. school not the best in the world but is one of the better schools in las vegas
Its not the schools responsiblilty to teach kids english in HS or any other school. These parents that get upset are down right ridiculous...do you think if I took my family to Mexico my kids would get taught in there native language? that would be a big fat no! We transfered to Durango this year after being in a Private School for 11 yrs and have been pleasantly surprised. The only class my child has is the one that the teacher doesnt speak Enlish!
Are you parents delusional? It is not the school's fault that some students are out of control, fight everyday and destroy the campus. Obviously they are out of control at home - and bring that same behavior to school. And why can't your child speak English if they are in High School? Again, it is not the school's responsibility to teach English to a Las Vegas high school student. Do your job parents - and you will make it much easier for the school to do theirs! Durango is just like every other high school, you expect a miracle without doing your job first. My daughter is an Honors student and doing well. She learned how to cope and how to succeed at home. . .
first of all if its education u want take them out of state. Nevada is ranked 49 state in all of U.S. Durango, in my opinion is average. I've seen schools much worse than Durango. The Faculty is amazing for those who take honors and A.P. but for those who take regular, well the teachers are a little worn out with the ridiculous kids. I would like to talk their parents. The parents are ridiculous for not do anything about their childs behavior. Its not the school i concerned with; its the students. The teachers are awesome and teach well. Overall i would recomend Durango for those who do not on moving out of las vegas any time soon. By the way the teachers are not allowed to do anything to the students or otherwise they get fired. So its up to the parents to control their children not the teachers.
I love Durango High School, teachers and staff. My children enjoy it there and feel safe. They are getting a great education!
The spirit we have is amazing! the faculty, staff and students are the best!
my 15 year-old Daughter attended Durango high school, she would come crying from school because the teachers would not help her because she did not speak english... this is the worst school I have taken any of my childern it dose not have my approvel...
I am a parent of two children @ durango and i believe it could be a much better place for me to have to send my children to. 50% (Or more) of the staff there could care less, or don't have the knowledge to care enough. The violence is unexceptable. At least 3 times p/wk a child is sent to emergency rm for being jumped. They have absolutely no control over the students or the surrounding area. It is terrifying every day to send my kids there.
When I went there I thought the worst thing was the kids in there. They are too rude to one another. I got picked on and that doesnt help with the demand to get a good grade. The school has dirty courtyards and grafittis in the bathroom. I saw it. But I finished school there just recently. All you know is a bunch of wealthy kids go there.
