Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is horific. I repeated the 8th grade already and they are trying to hold me back again! The teachers yell and curse at you as well as lose work and claim you never did it. Not to mention i had teachers be very inappropriate towards me. Worst school ever

I think schools get a bad rap from kids that get in touble ... My daughter came over to Lied from Escobedo and she is doing just fine!! My son has done alot better as well since his tranfer... I think the Dean is very personable as well. Parentlink is always getting updated!!

This school is terrible. The conditions are even unsanitary, with the lunchroom smelling like a sewer. The best part about it is the music program. The administration is an abomination, most teachers my child had this year were okay, one was atrocious. Constantly lost my child's work and said my child didn't do it. I am just about ready to put my child in another school.

Im an 8th grader about to go to High school. Lied isnt great. They people there are rude, there is major drama. I guess its who you hang out with there though. Some teacher are beyond rude. Other teacher are great. They classes are packed. My smallest is i think the smallest in the school and its 20 (very uncommon). about my largest is over 50. Lied isnt great but its not that bad from when i can in 6th grade its gotton better. I think they actually tried to imrove grades this year other than not caring like the others. Dress code and taties are excudes if they know you. They play favorites way to much. and They arent strict on fights, There isnt as much as there was in 7th grade. Half the fights they dont know about even though it happens on campus . But over all its pretty much based on who you hang out with. The school has gotton better but its not even close it the best. its okay. I wish i would of gone to a better school.

In my opinion, this is the worst school ever. My child has had so much trouble here in just her first year. My other child went through Becker, and I do not have one complaint during his entire time there.

This school has poor leadership and teachers I have a son that attends this school he has one teacher that tell the kids not to get in her space and how she wish the bad kids would stay home because that's why there school has gone to a two rating because of these kids she has not thought about it might be the teachers not the kids. She also loves to give out disregard of school rules to kids. They are really hard on the new sixth graders coming in this is a big transition for some kids. They don't report grades on parent link and the cause for not reporting grades on parent link there excuse is they are having problems with parent link. They know parent link is not working but, they still don't inform you that your child is doing bad or falling behind. This school has may problems. Parents think twice before sending your kids to this school.

I'm ready to pull my 7th grade daughter out of this school and it's only been two days since the school year started. She informed me that there are 48 students in her accelerated math class and only 40 desks. Last year she said that more than half the students who were in her 6th grade accelerated math class shouldn't have even been in an accelerated class. I'm looking into a magnet school now but she'll have to be put on a waiting list. All of this is a shame because she is involved in the orchestra and so was my older daughter. What a great program. But, you can't send your kid to a school just for that! It's very disappointing. I found the current principal to be totally unengaged and disinterested. At the spring concert last year she could've cared less that parents and children in the audience were disrupting the orchestra performance. She just stood idly by watching it all and not intervening like a true leader would have.

Lied is a pretty good school, I love their music department, such as their orchestra. The only problem is that the teachers are to strict. Sometimes i can't even walk down the hall without hearing a tiny problem from a teacher, such as yelling at us students about that BARELY even violates dress code. As a student, i really do love this school, but there are some exceptions to that!

I am currently attending Lied Middle School Now and let me tell you it is the worst school ever. The teaches are rude and dnt teach us to the standards we need to be taught. Im only in the 7th grade and already im doing 7 page papers. The vice principal does more than our real principal does. He game to all of our away games and she only game came to one of our home game. The teachers are always yelling in someones face. I had a recent incident with a teacher and the stuff took up for the teacher they did not ounce try and here my story. Our school serves us uncooked food and says they cant do anything about it. The only good thing I can say about good about the school is that they have an amazing music program. And the best music teachers ever.

this school needs to get there act together i am tired of not being able to learn anything so when ic ome home from school and my mom says what did you learn today i have to say nothing casue teachers wont talk if people are talking and just let uis talk the whole period. this is the worst school by far i have ever been to.and i just got suspended for having one tardy all year and about 50 other people. also a new kid that just got here acouple days ago got suspended for two days and only had his first tardy. THIS SCHOOL OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.

Student learning is a two way street, parents also need to be involved in thier childs learning. Lied does have an exceptional music department, my oldest is now at LVA and her sister plays at Lied. When she has a problem with a class, she stays after school and her teachers work with her. My hat's off to the staff of Lied MS, you are doing a wonderful job!

I went to Lied for three years and let me be the first to tell you that this school was TERRIBLE. The teachers could care less if you're failing or not and the administration in general are ignorant, lazy, and unfair. Most of the staff their act like they're afraid of some of the students and are too scared to stand up to them. I don't know about you, but how does that qualify as being a "Lieder". The only thing I'll give them is their music program-- it's extraordinary. Other then that, this school pretty much fails at everything else. I was so glad to graduate from here. Parents, if you love your child DO NOT send your kids here.

I went to lied for three years. I won't say it was the best school I've ever been to, but i have gained many friends and life skills from lied. To be honest there were kids doing drugs and other bad things there, but I was never exactly aware of it until I left Lied. It is a good school, though. The teacher's do care about their students and the administrators as well. Sure I've had teachers that I didn't like, but they weren't horrible. Almost all of the teachers there are good.

It makes me VERY sad to read about so many unhappy parents of Lied students! I have had four children go through Lied and know many friends and family members who go to other schools in the district. Lied is absolutely superior! The teachers have high expectations of their students and that should be expected of middle school students. Every teacher is different, but for the most part, I have been 90% satisfied with the staff at Lied. As far as the administration (Principal, AP's, Deans) they are on the ball! Yes, they have strict rules, but it's important for kids to know they can't get away with the small things which in turn prevents larger incidents from happening. The counselors there are superb! My child will be in 7th grade next year and their counselor is super! Sad to see some unhappy! I'm NOT! :)

I love Lied! The principal, AP's, Deans are all on top of things. I see them out in the mornings and after school patrolling the neighborhood making sure our kids are safe! My third and last child is now at Lied as will be a 7th grader this year. Teachers have been above average and the counselor was awesome! So kind, caring, sweet and there for the kids! Looking forward to 2 more years! Lied is NOT like other schools in the valley! Lied is far better!

So far I have 2 kids that have been to Lied. The school has a successful music department, with both orchestra and band earning superior ratings almost every year. There are many varieties of clubs and activities held after school. School safety is a bit so and so because you only see school police every now and then. Parents aren't allowed in the parking lot for safety reasons because of buses loading/unloading students . Test grades are improving step by step, but definitely not decreasing. Parent involvement is what I say average from parent meetings held at least every quarter and along with Intouch to check your child's grades (contact your student's counselor for password). Even though there are some teachers that are ridiculously strict, that doesn't mean you don't learn a single thing. Your child will be able to get through the school year depending on your child's behavior.

My son goes to Lied and he and I both hate it! I have had nothing but problems with him and the school since he started attending there. If I had a choice, it would be any school but Lied! Don't send your children there if you can help it! The P, VP & Deans are rude and ignorant. I am never notified of anything as far as grades or incidents. Parents aren't even allowed in the parking lot to pick up or drop off students!

My child attends Lied. Scary! Most teachers and staff will agree it is one of the roughest schools in the Valley. It's like High School! There is constant violence, drugs and many other issues daily! They also removed the school Police...big mistake! Worst school in my book!Children are very unsafe there.

My daughter is in her first year at this school and so far so good. They send home information and have and easily accessed web site called intouch.com that is for the parents to view the children's progress. In my opinion it has been a positive experience.
