Hi, I attended Douglas High School for one year and was in the school district for 4 years, before moving to Orange County. The academic workload at Douglas and curriculum is far easier and a lot less work at Douglas then my old high school. I don't believe Douglas does a sufficient enough job for college prep, unless you plan to to go to UNR, where a lot of kids will be shocked how steep the difficulty goes.

The school is very helpfull for both the community and students. The sports that I was involved in helped me get through school. The coaches and staff that I have dealt with helped with school work and out side help if needed. But the only reason the principles of this school contact parents are for trouble. Again this school I would recomend to anyone except for top end management of the school.

Their sports teams are coming out of the ground. The freshman football team in 2003 was 10-0 the 2004 team was 8-2. The 2004 jv team was 4-4. The 2003 varsity team was 13-1 the 2004 team was 11-1. The players are not the biggest but they are very strong. Some adults say that they would even afraid to play with the freshmans. The freshman coach said that these were the biggest kids hes coached in years. The towns people say that when the jv and freshman teams are in varsity together that they have the speed and size and strength to go to state. The beggining of the season started out with 94 freshman and ended with 64. The wrestlers are all almost undefeated. I think that there are at least 30 or 40 that are undefeated (Frosh-Varsity).

This is a 3 year HIgh. If your child is gifted or special needs.. it's great. Those struggling could get lost in the system unless parents are real involved. Had 2 kids graduate and going now from there. Moved here for the school. Awesome band program (3X's to the Inagurual Parade, State Champions). Sports are strong here also. Only problem I have is they force the kids to pass a foreign language exam before allowing to graduate (only school in the state that does). They exceed the states requirements for state tests. This hurts the students that struggle. They have email now so the communication between parent/teacher is up. Great prep for College, and interacts with local Community College.
