I have read the reviews for Barrington and feel that much has changed with this school in the past few years. I think the new principal has proven to be a focused and compassionate leader. The staff seems professional and focused. My daughter has not had a bad teacher yet: she is in third grade. She is scoring high on the standardized tests, which tells me that she is getting a good eduction. The school has a great enrichment program, excellent REACH program and generally more extra-curricular programs than any one student can do. Cudos to the principal and her staff for leading our school and its students to succcess.

The moment you walk in BES you feel a sense of community. Everyone is warm and friendly. If you need anything, the friendly office folks are there to help you. My children had a great experience at the elementary school. I think the academics are challenging and the staff is knowledgeable. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful school!!

I love Barrington Elementary! The teachers and administration are friendly and student-centered. I have had two children attend the school and both loved everything about it. Every morning when I walked into the school, I was greeted with a friendly 'Good morning,' by the Guidance Counselors and the Assistant Principal. I did see some parents get 'testy' with them when they were politely asked to get a pass to walk down to the classrooms. Why get mad at them for keeping the school safe? Some people amaze me! The counselors and administration always smiled back at the rude parents and explained that they were following protocol and keeping the school as safe as possible. This is an extremely safe school because of the safeguards that are put in place.....and enforced. Good job Barrington Elementary! We are fortunate to have such a wonderful and caring, and academically challenging place for our children

I helped with the after school care program. There is a caring staff and energetic students, but sometimes there is a lack of professionalism in the extra activities.

My children attended this school and I do have to say it was so bad, we were willing to walk away from the house we owned at the time just to get them out of it. There is nothing nice I can say about the staff. I only encountered one teacher, Miss Atherton, who was taught my children anything of value. I am not sure if she is even there anymore. As a parent, I had many concerns and none of them were addressed. If I had to rate this school on a grade system, I would have to give them an F, and thats being nice. My children recieved nothing attending this school. I am thankful our house sold and we were able to relocate. If you are looking to buy in Barrington and have kids, look elsewhere or you may be sorry.

BES is an OK school, but certainly needs a lot of improvement. The principal at the school is fairly weak, the kingergarten teachers pretty much rule him. Speaking of kingergarten, everything they do is cookie cutter. I've had two children go through two years apart. What the most recent child brought home for projects is EXACTLY as my first child (down to the color and everything). In addition, the playground is nice but on a bed of pebbles (which the students aren't allowed to touch. They also may NOT speak at lunchtime once the last person goes through the line..this is crazy! I'm desperately looking for other options. Now, my 2nd grader is learning about drugs and alcohol...she has no clue about this, why are they INTRODUCING IT TO HER AT THIS young AGE. Schools should stick with the basics.

I attended Barrington Elementary School as a child and I don't remember having any problems with it. The teachers are of good quality and many of them have their own creative ways of teaching their students. 'Open Houses' are scheduled at least twice a year and gives the parents an opportunity to visit their child's classroom enviornment and what assignments and projects they have been working on. Recess goes on twice a day, on a fairly large playground that recently got some new equipment. The only thing I wasn't crazy about is the quality of the food, and the fact that the school is built right in the centre of well-driven dirtbike and ATV trails.
