The school office staff is very rude. It seem they need get more "education" before they can educate the children. The K teacher does not understand the children developmental issue. Parents involvement very low. No wonder NECAP test always the lowest in the district.
First, We were worried because We have to moved our kids in to this school, but it turns out Nothing to be worried about this school, They are all Great Teachers, Principal Mr.Boodey, Special Education Team..Great Building&nice & organize classrooms, you name it ..it's there..We're just so grateful there's still a Awesome Public School around..
My brother and I went to school there and now my son does. I feel so fortunate to live in the Woodman Park School district.
I loved my time at Woodman Park. I got the best education I could have ever possibly recieved! Mr Boodey was awesome, and I felt like I belonged in that atmosphere.
We weren't very pleased with my daughters 1st grade teacher but since then it has been excellent! Mr. Roux, her 4th grade teacher, is amazing and the kids really seem to not only love him but respect him. Mr Boodey, the prinicipal, is very involved and seems to know most of the kids, not just the 'trouble makers', by name. Ms. Norris, guidance counselor, is amazing and has been a huge support to my daughter as she has endure different personal obstacles this year. Overall a great school!
The school has a lot of programs for all learners. The staff is excellent and values all children. There is a lot of honest and open communication. No other school in the areas offers all that WPS can do. Ask for a tour.
WPS does amazing work with a wonderfully diverse student population that includes students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Some need remedial work because they went without the social and cognitive stimulation of preschool and other advantages. WPS has the most dedicated, capable group of educators I have ever known. My three children went to WPS, each w/different learning needs. one did well w/extra support and encouragement, one was a very capable learner and rec'd perfect scores in his 3rd grade testing, and one had a learning disability that was quickly diagnosed and addressed. They had wonderful experiences, remained enthusiastic about school and went on to successful middle school experiences. Parents, don't let this site's rating frighten: WPS is wonderful.
I love this school, so much so that I am trying to put off a move until my daughter is too old to attend. She has been there for three years and I have been more impressed as the years have gone on. The teachers are wonderful and I truly feel like my child is taken care of while she is away from me. Her reading and math skills are above average and the extra's such as art, music, health, gym, and computer are all helping me to help her become a well rounded individual! Keep up the good work Woodman Park!
I've been very impressed with Woodman Park elementary school. The teachers have been wonderful and given their all to the classroom. The kids seem to be happy, upbeat and enjoying their school experience.
