Under the same administrator this school has been failing to make AYP and has been "in need of improvement" . This school is in the 5-6 year in the restructuring level in the state. We are hovering in the bottom 3.1% in math and 5.2% in reading. Very few Middle schools share our failing status. The principal admits that the school is failing and he has personally has told us to remove our child from school if we were dissatisfied because he felt that the school was doing the best it could and it could do no more, and if parents were dissatisfied, they should look for another school. The problem in NH is that unless parents are rich enough, they are bound to a school they pay high taxes to. Parents cannot afford to pay taxes to district school and tuition to another school. I am amazed that the school board accepts this attitude from the administrators from this district. Amazed, but not surprised because they let administrators walk all over parental rights in this district. Many horror stories from this one school in this district but the other schools were great. Parent involvement is not welcome in this school.

This school like most has it's share of problems. But the school community works together very hard to solve those problems. This is very refreshing in the sometimes complacent world of education. This is a very student centered enviroment which leads to great achievement by the students themselves. Many President Award recipents this year and last. The school culture is one of student involvment, volunteerism and respect for oneself and others.Parents involvment is encouraged and never turned away. The teacher's go above and beyond on a daily basis, it's not always the big things, but the little things that count the most and have the biggest impact on the students. This is evident when you walk into the school and see the pride on the students faces, observe the realtionships and respect between students and staff members. There is no preconceived idea to what a particular child can or cannot learn. This is not the only school system my child has been in but it is the best so far.Test scores does not always make a school great, But that is why it should never be the only thing we look at. Never be afraid to interview a school if your looking to move into a community.

The best school ever. The two admins are incredible. The most student centered school I have ever been a part of.

I have two children in the school district: hs & ms. The MS is okay, not great. The district suffers greatly from significant staff/teacher/parent issues with the current superintendent, and there is a tension between many community members, the school board and the superintendent. This has affected teacher & community involvement within the school. The teachers seem a bit apathetic, and rarely involve themselves in extracurricular activities. There are no school sponsored sports programs here, no extracurricular art or drama programs. The academic program is interesting with students selecting majors of studies. The facility itself is only about 6 years old. Its location in proximity to the other schools is perfect. Parent involvement is not particularly encouraged, but not particularly discouraged either. Communication is weak unless parent initiated. The Assistant Principal is great, Principal is not particularly visible, and the office staff is okay. School nurse on staff is ok.

My son attended this school and the teachers are great. They are very good at getting back to the parents right away and offer any help they can. Keep up the good work!

This school district is really great! I just finished 5th grade at Hillsboro-Deering Elementary School and am on my way to HDMS. Also, my brother is going into the kindergarden there this year. I had a really great year at HDES, and I intend to have an even better year at HDMS.
