We have two children enrolled at RAS. Both of their teachers are very strong, providing sound instruction and structure in the classroom. Both teachers are extremely positive role models, and have been a source of inspiration to our children all year long. The administration is friendly and open to parent communication. The principal and assistant principal are very popular with the students. The school has strong any-bullying policies and programs, and is a very friendly tolerant place.
My son just finished his first year at RAS and we are very pleased with both the level of instruction and the administration. He had a consistent amount of daily homework, testing and special projects requiring research, writing and oral presentation. The principal and assistant principal are relatively new, very enthusiastic and the students love them. I raised an issue early on that they responded to immediately and resolved satisfactorily.
I feel that the teacher faculty and building administrators are nothing but supportive of the student's needs. The principal's doors always open. The teachers do a great job of making students understand the importance of hard work and being accountable for their own actions. Hard work and critical thinking seem to be a staple of the school. Exvcellent school district.
Ridgewood Avenue is a great school in one of New Jersey's BEST school districts. My daughter has been at RAS for two years and had two lovely, helpful and caring teachers. Her school work is relevant and challenging. I am proud of all my daughter has learned at RAS.
Student homework consists of largely worksheets and little creative and or research work given. The administration is inflexible and unresponsive. There has not been a science fair to my knowledge in the school, but there are an abundance of frivilous 'fund raiser' activities.
The administration are unsupportive and their favorite word appears to be 'no!'
Way too much pressure on the students to 'prepare' them academically. They do not support the whole child and do not respect family time. Weekend homework in addition to an overload of homework during the week is the norm. The staff and administration are inflexible and minimally supportive should you have any problems.
