What a shame this dynamic Catholic school will close its doors in June 2011. The school finally found a supportive pastor and principal who could work for the good of the children. Parent involvement has always been above and beyond. Pray for Catholic education in the Diocese of Metuchen.

OLMV is a Pre-K to Grade 8 school. Our daughter has been attending the Pre-K for the past 2 years and we couldn't be more pleased with the school. Our Lady of Mount Virgin School has caring teachers, great student mentors and a dedicated principal. There is also a great sense of community. The teachers are always available to address any concerns or issues and parent feedback is well received. Our daughter loves her preschool and her teachers. I am looking forward to signing her up for Kindergarten at OLMV next year.

Have 2 children in the school and one in the Pre-K. It is an outstanding, nurturing school, My oldest is near middle-school age and is at the top of the scales on all standardized tests. All teachers are extremely caring and nurturing and the science and math programs - once a weakness - have really excelled the last few years. Parents are very involved and we all feel like family.

My daughter attended this school's K. Though initially impressed, I found out they only have an overwhelmed, burnt out K teacher.! My child was quiet, and shy but the teacher complained on every thing - even said the class had too many kids and there was no help. We knew something was up when my child started to wet her pants. We pulled her out of school and made decision not to mention OLMV infront of her hoping she will forget this school. Now, at 3rd grade back to school night we found her journal - she wrote how she remembered being treated badly by her OLMV teacher. Sadly, her kindergarten experience affected her pretty badly. Do extra due diligence if you think this school is for your child! Everyone should have a fond memory of their K experience.

We made the right decision when choosing to send our son to OLMV. Teachers have great credentials and engage the children in learning. They have a modern, updated computer lab, the school's curriculum is challenging, and there is exceptional parental involvement. Staff and students alike are kind and caring. My son looks forward to going to school each day. The first grade teacher did a wonderful job laying the foundation for our son's future learning. I highly recommend this school. It is worth every penny.

Our Lady of Mount Virgin School is a great learning institution. The school has a well-educated, experienced staff in place. The principal is well liked and regarded by all. OLMV has vastly improved its math and science program over the years. Very recent graduates have become validictorians and salutatorians of their high school graduating class. That says it all!

Weak Math & Science departments. Four faculty changes in a few years. OLMV needs to stay competitive in these areas if it is to stay afloat. New principal is awesome and parent support is terrific.

All I can say is that we feel very blessed to have found such a warm & nurturing environment for our children. We were beginning to despair that the school environment we wanted for our children did not exist, but then we found Our Lady of Mount Virgin School. Though our children began this school in 4th and 6th grade (and had not previously attended Catholic school), they immediately felt as though they had been attending this school from the very beginning. They have so many activities and programs including service and community projects that my children were interested in.

My child is now is in her second year at OLMV. The teachers are wonderful. I am very happy with my daughters progress in her two years at OLMV. She teaches me how to keep my faith. The school parents and teachers are truly a family. There is a wonderful support system within the school. My faith in the Lord brought me to OLMV and I pray that the teachers/faculty at OLMV continue to their wonderful work throught our Lord Jesus Christ. God Bless the school, the pastor, the teachers, and the students. Keep up the God's work. proud parent of OLMV student

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
