INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL..what a joke they dont even have extra help for students that are in need. My daughter needs help in 3 subjects they can only help in 1 subject. The rest of the subjects OH WELL!!!! they act like nothing and they have a waiting list (for turtors) They dont even contact you when your spot is available. They act like nothing. This school dont care for the students. Very disappointing....

For the past 2 years I been very disappointed with this school and I thought highly of Ann Street however since my son's 4th grade experience, which it was horrible and he was bullied not by a student by an adult that the student look up too, no one cared. Now my daughter in 2nd grade is having trouble with her subjects and I cant get within the school help...is very frustrating and a completely disappointed. This is how they want to resolve the issues: to take my kids out of the school and go to another school instead of fixing the issues. Very simple for them to say. Is a joke everytime I visit the school, I have to say Ann Street School is not like years ago it has changed tremendously....

Ann Street School is a magnet school and is an example for all schools. My kid gets up in the morning with a strong sense of wanting to go to school to learn. He has a goal of becoming super honor roll which he thrives for. At home he has a strong sense of completing homework as soon as he gets home. Demostrates strong dedication towards education which impresses me. When a school gives kids a strong example of being respectful, of being responsible and get a good education which is the school's moto, kids due excel and compete to reach that super honor roll goal. I'm very happy my kids attends Ann Street School.

My daughter went there for prek and kindergarten. She left because we moved. She received a fantastic education. Her teachers at the Ann Street Annex were top notch. Ms. Rizzo and Ms. Gamba are by far two of the most wonderful teachers I have ever come in contact with. My daughter left Kindergarten reading and writing a two page book report, something she isn't really doing yet in second grade. Hats off to a wonderful group of teachers at Ann Street. You win my vote!!

This school not only is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, but one that exemplifies what community partnerships impact has on our children. This school teaches children to "Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Get a Good Education." Above all this school particiaptes in district and nationwide contest that have placed them at the top. I am so proud of Ann Street School and wish I could just scream it out and let the boys and girls know how proud I am of all of them!

Ann Street School has an excelent reputation for it's academic programs. The overalla atmosphere is one of high sxpectations and gentle nurturing. I am somewhat concerned about the availability of diverse experiences, not just for the 'minority' students but overall. In a small section of Newark, many I met at this school were misinformed and full of fear about cultures other than the ones represented at Ann Street. I do not think this is premeditated, just the result of isolation by teachers and other staff to true cultural diversity (vs. images and stereoptypes perpetuated in movies and TV for example. Prent involvement at this school is to be commended! Parents realy get the connection between a good education and success in the future and they also know that the staff at Ann street school are dedicated and sincere.

Ann Street School is a highly respected elementry school in the state of New Jersey. It has been honored for this by being named a Blue Ribbon School.I am an Ann Street Alumni and currently have my 2 sons ages 8 and 13 who have attended this school since kindergarden and I am very impressed with the progress they have made. The Principal, Mr. Joseph Maccia and his teaching staff take a seriuos approach to the education, safety and overall well being of the students that attend Ann Street School. Mr. Maccia and his staff have been very successful in getting the parents envolved in the education of the sons and duaghters. I personally believe that this is the key to the schools success. The school is dedicated to the academic achievements of its students. Keep it up !
