There are 4 Vocational High Schools in Essex County (Newark, Newark, Bloomfield and West Caldwell). 2005-2006 was the first year the school offered a program to accommodate regular high school level academics. Except for about 30 students this year, ( along with 30 students that will be added next year) the student's academic program here is less challenging than at a regular high school. A new principal was hired in 2005. The school is very safe and the teachers are quite good. The reason we chose the school was because the vocational training is amazing. This kind of school is not for everyone but it was perfect for our child. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in one of the vocational programs that they offer. Students can go on to college and they can learn wonderful skills at this high school that a normal high school can not offer.
