I work there and we had it is outstanding as far as serving APS and the community as it is a community center. Principal Ed Briggs (retired this year) was SUPERB and integrating staff, students, and community!!! We also incorporate service learning as well.

What i have to say cannot be said in 150 words or less. So quick and to the point, find another school. Most of the teachers do not try. The principal and the counslors do not care. Their before and after school classes are a joke. There are (like most public schools) too many students in the classes. Unless i quit my job and sat in class with my child, my child will not learn.

With all of the great reviews here one would think they'd have an excellent school. My child cannot receive the special education supports he needs. They may have caring teachers, but they are overwhelmed. The split schedule is a great idea, implemented incorrectly! Not enough teachers. Great after school programs, though.

We are extremely pleased with Grant, I do not know the teachers very well since my daughter is in 6th grade, but the few times I have been in contact with teachers, office staff, etc...I have been very pleased. And Mr. Briggs is absolutely wonderful-very involved, and answers just about every single phone call-VERY UNUSUAL FOR A SCHOOL PRINCIPAL!!!!!! We love it, and our daughter loves it-We are VERY HAPPY to be part of Grant Middle School! Plus, they are wonderful with 6th graders, who may be a bit nervous about leaving elementary school!!!

This school is very well rounded. My son will be an 8th grader this year and I'm very happy with his first two years that he spent at GMS. The teachers and parents care greatly. It's a diverse school. My son's in gifted and loves it!

Grant Middle School is a good place for students to learn and teachers to teach. The principal, Edgar Briggs takes time to make sure all people are appreciated and the students' individual needs are met. He does not lay down rules that are impossible for students to follow. He also communicates well with his staff. He holds high expectations for the students and the teachers, and exceeds thos expectations himself. When a problem occurs, he is willing to personally help solve it, rather than sluffing it off to another entity. He treats his teachers with the highest respect, he knows the district well and can solve problems and get things done within the district better than most principals, and he is friendly and approachable. Ed Briggs makes Grant a great school and if I could nominate for principal of the year, I'd nominate him above all others.
