This school is terrible. The whole school is filthy and the entire student base in incredibly rude. They should start by getting rid of the hundreds of roaches. The discipline system is useless. The overall teaching is good but so little of the students actually care about learning anyways.
A great school,no fights, and very friendly, and no drugs a great school i recommend it for u
Nightmare school please if you can send you student to another school. The experience my son had at this school will hunt him for years to come. Two teachers bullied him another physically assaulted him because he had his jacket/hood on in the building. The principal has no control of his school. One teach called a young man the "N" during class. Anything horrible that could happen in one year did. Please parents don't sent your children here.
this school is awesome and has really cool programs and the principal mr.rodney seems to be verry nice and verry funny! i recomend this school because alot of my friends love!! ms.benavidez is the best teacher u can meet and ms.burwinkle is a awesome teacher too!! Go Eagles!!
I work there and we had it is outstanding as far as serving APS and the community as it is a community center. Principal Ed Briggs (retired this year) was SUPERB and integrating staff, students, and community!!! We also incorporate service learning as well.
What i have to say cannot be said in 150 words or less. So quick and to the point, find another school. Most of the teachers do not try. The principal and the counslors do not care. Their before and after school classes are a joke. There are (like most public schools) too many students in the classes. Unless i quit my job and sat in class with my child, my child will not learn.
With all of the great reviews here one would think they'd have an excellent school. My child cannot receive the special education supports he needs. They may have caring teachers, but they are overwhelmed. The split schedule is a great idea, implemented incorrectly! Not enough teachers. Great after school programs, though.
My daughter is a transfer student and very happy at Grant Middle. I am very impressed by the principal's participation in everything that happens at the school.
Grant rox it has a friendly atmosphere and the teachers and students are very helpful to new students, the office staff is easy to work with as well!
We are extremely pleased with Grant, I do not know the teachers very well since my daughter is in 6th grade, but the few times I have been in contact with teachers, office staff, etc...I have been very pleased. And Mr. Briggs is absolutely wonderful-very involved, and answers just about every single phone call-VERY UNUSUAL FOR A SCHOOL PRINCIPAL!!!!!! We love it, and our daughter loves it-We are VERY HAPPY to be part of Grant Middle School! Plus, they are wonderful with 6th graders, who may be a bit nervous about leaving elementary school!!!
This school is very well rounded. My son will be an 8th grader this year and I'm very happy with his first two years that he spent at GMS. The teachers and parents care greatly. It's a diverse school. My son's in gifted and loves it!
Grant Middle School is a good place for students to learn and teachers to teach. The principal, Edgar Briggs takes time to make sure all people are appreciated and the students' individual needs are met. He does not lay down rules that are impossible for students to follow. He also communicates well with his staff. He holds high expectations for the students and the teachers, and exceeds thos expectations himself. When a problem occurs, he is willing to personally help solve it, rather than sluffing it off to another entity. He treats his teachers with the highest respect, he knows the district well and can solve problems and get things done within the district better than most principals, and he is friendly and approachable. Ed Briggs makes Grant a great school and if I could nominate for principal of the year, I'd nominate him above all others.
I went to Grant until I moved, and I don't think that any school will be able to be as good. The teachers at Grant are the best, two of them specifically, helped me through a lot. Mr. Briggs is the coolest principle and he cares a lot about how are grades are, and if they aren't good he will help us get them higher. We have student council, orchestra, band, drama, chorus, guitar, and many other electives. The orchestra and band teachers are realy cool and know what they are doing. It's just amazing how much the teachers at Grant have helped me, and prepared me for everything.
Our school is very high in education. The teachers our great. If the kids are sruggleing the will help and put them on grade monoerating. Which is a sheet of paper which we have to get our grades every two weeks and get it signed by a parent ,so the parents can keep track of grades. Our principal Mr.Briggs is very devoted to his job which we appriciate,he is a great principal. We have very devoted teachers. Grant Middle School is a school I would want my child to go to . I am glad I go there!
This is the best public school my children have ever attended. The expectations are high, but the staff is very good. They really go the extra mile for the kids. I cannot say enough nice things about the teachers. My kids were better prepared for high school than their friends ere, and they (my kids) did very well.
I go to Grant and it is great. Our principal is really fun and cool but if you break the rules you do not want to face him. He would do anything for us and the teachers are the same I never thought that I would evertell one of my teachers about the boys I liked and other things that were going on in my life. We also don't have many fights at our school because we have a great police officer monitering the halls.
High School Teachers say the students are better prepared in English than most. There's great counseling support, tutoring and discipline. Expect lots of homework. The free YMCA program after school is a plus. Stay in close touch and they will help you get the most out of this very friendly and academically challenging school.
