ATC embodies the spirit of education my family and I believe in. The curriculum is comprehensive and relevant, the teachers are enthusiastic and well informed, the students are involved and learning to be mindful contributors to society, parents participate and are heard. And, did I mention it's public! I like being part of a school where we can all be part of the outcomes. It is how public education ought to be.

I love that it is small and so the students are given extra attention. I love their system for keeping parents regularly informed with weekly progress reports that are posted on the website for each child. I love that the school is committed to teaching our kids about sustainability and taking care of the planet. I love that the kids are offered such healthy menu choices out of a local garden. I love how the teachers are willing to invest so much time and energy into the kids, even after school with tutoring and such. I really their discipline policies which include the children taking responsibility for their actions in a positive way that helps them learn and grow rather than just punishing. I'm also grateful that my child has never loved going to school so much until he started going to ATC!! Great staff & great curriculum that motivates kids to excel in school.

This is a great school for many reasons. The teachers have created an innovative, thought-provoking curriculum. Students have to think creatively to fulfill assignments. Teachers frequently communicate with parents about what's going on in the classroom. My daughter is happy there!

Attendig school has many purposes: learning about the world from many aspects and views. Being exposed to diverse people, opinions, broaden your horizon. Determining one's strength and weaknesses. Knowing where we experienced in the past that brings us to the present so we can go forward into the future. It allows us to earn a living and serves as a stepping stone to further education and/or challenges. We can not only benefit ourselves but each other.

Because my daughter is in her first year at ATC and she is loving school. Anytime your child comes home and tells you they actually like school, well, that's a victory! They are a smaller charter school and could really use this grant for building a cafeteria as they don't have a proper kitchen and cafeteria for the kids and faculty. Thank you for your consideration of ATC for this grant.

Charter School education authentically addresses each child's strengths and challenges, thus personalizing the educational experience for all. My family members have been known for who they are and who they can be by the faculty - it is difficult to find that kind of academic intimacy in these challenging times.

Exceptional teachers, exceptional leadership and support staffm excelence in education in all areas of study...Strong in elective courses, concerned in educating the whole child...Goal driven and has proved to attain school goals. Leadership works well with the surroungding insitutions, uses creativity in order to further the mission of the school so that all stakeholders benifit. The leadership is looking forward and sets attainable goals and emphasies to all the quality of the education that students receive at atc. Leadership is looking forward in not just education but in funds necessary to provide students, faculty and staff with the needed tools to enhance the teaching abilities of faculty and thus the students are learinig to each students ability. Diversity in the student population is an added plus and teaches students about the world around them, parents are supportive of the directives of the school and provide support to better further the schools mission. Most improtantly...My child loves his teachers and his school.

My son is finishing his 7th grade year, and it has really been a good experience for him. He has been brought up to his grade level because all the 7th graders were behind from elementary for some reason. Also it is a very safe school, and class size is small enough so the children get the attention they need.

There's lots of support for kids. classes are still relatively smaller than traditional public schools. Teacher and administrators are very accessible to parents and student. Not enough homework. We need funding for capital outlay projects, such as gym, cafeteria, laboratories, and libraries.

This is a great small school. I have enjoyed working with the teachers to make sure that my children are well educated. I do have one thing and that is the learning generalizations are made between all the children at the school. Each child has a different way of learning and their retention levels are different. I would like to let ATC know that they do not have permission to create forms of segregation by labeling students according to their behavior and learning capabilities.

Our son was in the graduating class of 2009 and it was truly a moving experience to watch and listen to these 30 seniors who have all become outstanding citizens. Their love and compassion towards each other and and teachers was clearly evident. They all felt the loss of our beloved principal who passed away just weeks before their graduation and who made the school what it is today. There may not be a lot of sport activities and the some teachers may be better than others, but one consistency is that you know that all of these teachers want to be there. They all go out of their way to be mentors. This is a school that builds character.

I just had an opportunity to review our SBA scores for 2008. The results are outstanding. ATC was rated 18th out of 152 high schools statewide for 2007. I expect the new data will move us into the top 5 for 2008. Kudos for the fine job done by the Class of 2009. You knocked the ball out of the park on the SBA's. A full 80% of you rate proficient or advanced in both math and reading. Ruth LeBlanc will be returning as principal despite earlier announcing her retirement. We simply could not find a qualified replacement, and her sacrifice is nothing short of heroic. We are looking forward to seeing our returning students August 19th. This year will be our best yet.

I am a eight grade student ATC. This is my first year there; for seventh a went to a nearby private school. I believe this school is one of the best in town. When reading some of the other reviews, i have to say i was disgusted by how little they really knew. The reviews were also out-dated. First i have to say that we are out of the portables and are in a exceptional building. The hall ways are outdoors which gives me and other classmates a sense of freedom while seeing nature run its natural course. But ATC is always improving. Because it is a charter school and not a private or public school, we do have as much money as other schools. Although there aren't many extra-curricular activities, the academic excellence is way above other charters. The students are the most excepting group i have been friends with.

Half full or half empty? I guess it depends on your world view. Are the students out of the portables yet? No. Will they be out of portables and in a new state-of-the-art school building next year? Yes. Are extracurricular activities like those in large public schools ? No. Are there other amazing student and faculty organized activities such as music, theatre, Supercommputing competition, year book, student news paper, science olympiad, rennaisance fair, etc? Yes Every charter school develops a personality that works for some students and not others. This school is great for quirky kids who march to the beat of a different drummer. I have been through the regular high school experience with an older child and there is no comparison. ATC is terrific if your child needs individualized attention and a warm, welcoming but challenging atmosphere in order to learn.

The Academy for Technology and the Classics has come a long way in the last few years. It is the only school serving 7th grade and above in Santa Fe to meet the requirements for Adequate Yearly Progress. A new building is under construction, and the accessible portables have not been a barrier for most. My older son has attended 9th & 10th grade and attends 11th grade, and my younger son attends 7th grade at ATC. They both have creative, challenging teachers and are on track to go to top-notch colleges, as other ATC graduates have done. Marimba and art classes are electives, as are philosophy, five languages, environmental studies, and more. The present principal has provided very good leadership for several years. Few sports are offered. Many parents have become involved in our active PTSC this year. The student body is very accepting of differences.

This school is nearly 5 yrs in operation and has not lived up to its charter at all. They still operate in portable bldgs, have no sports or extracurricular activities to speak of and have not produced a proportionaly significant amount of college bound graduates. They have had 4 directors since opening and none has consistently stated or followed any vision or plan for the execution of the charters or made a commitment to either Technology or the Classics. I would rate this school as poor and would not be surprised if they get their charter revoked. FYI: one of their own teachers became so frustrated with ATC's lack of ambition and has opened their own charter school in response.
