I was a bit hesitant to put my son whose is in 4th grade in Park Ave. He had been in a catholic school from pre k to 3rd grade and my husband and I were not happy with the treatment he was receiving. My son is average, not bad but not the top of his class and it seemed that in his other school that's all they wanted. Many people speak ill of the Amityville school district, but I always say find out something yourself. Well we did and Park Ave is FINE!! My son is learning about different cultures. He is doing better academically than in catholic school. Maybe beacause his teacher looks at a student not just a black male who is going to give them trouble. Put your tax dollars to work and save your private school tuition for college.

I have a 4th & a 5th grader at PAMES. Both are doing exceptionally well academically. I sense that some of the teachers are ever-whelmed by the large class sizes & are not able to give each student the amount of time & attention they may need. Then there are others that are just super s/a Mrs. Patsos, which they both had in 4th gr, a sweet, patient, competent & kind teacher that PAMES is just so fortunate to have! They are on track with Music programs & art, but more can be done in the areas of sport & extra-curr activities. I insist on maximum parent involvement in most any school to achieve academic excellence in our kids, the teachers can't go the distance alone!
