I am a parent of a student presently the teachers are helpful and the principal is awsome. But.....The secretarys or aids that work in the general office are rude and nasty. They never say good morning and you always have to ask them can someone help me numerous times before they come to your aid. If they dont like there job they need to quit.

I've been a student at 74 for a good chunk of time. I personally think it's an excellent school. The teachers are very professional and experienced. However, getting to each class is a bit of a problem in this school. It is very crowded and is a bit of a challenge to transition from each class. Other than that, an excellent school.

My child attends ms 74 and when they get home they complain about how dirty the school is. I had high expectations for this school. This school is too crowded.

I attend ms74 and i am graduating next month. I have made lots of friends and had some great times there. The teachers are great. However, there is one teacher that students and parents frequently have problems with. She is a nightmare. Another problem is the amount of kids that don't speak English. A lot of the Asian kids speak very little English and can sometimes hold the class back because they need extra help. I believe all the children who can not speak English should be put in a separate class.

My child will be graduating this year and has had the most amazing 3 years at MS 74. He had an incredibly easy transition in 6th grade due to the wonderful teachers he had. He feels safe and comfortable there and the administration is so caring and warm to the students. He has been guided wonderfully during the HS application process and is sad to leave. I could not imagine a better middle school experience for him. The school has a very warm feel to it from the minute you walk through the doors.

With another child in elementary school it is difficult to accurately rate MS 74 because I am limited in my involvement within the school. As a new parent of a child in MS 74, I was very disappointed in the transition process during the first two weeks of school. Being innundated with notices, forms and flyers from the school as well as rules, subject and grading criteria from each teacher was very overwhelming not only for my child but for me also. A gradual transition is needed in middle school because our children are also changing both mentally and physically.

This school has a problem controlling the students and there's a lot of bullying that is not being properly addressed. If your child is being picked on and you call in to speak with the dean or asst. principal they turn the situation around to blame it on your child. Also, the sixth graders are not being taken care of properly and they exposed to a lot of negativity from badly behaved children
