Like any school there are good and not so good teachers. The not so good teachers really bring this school down. The principal needs to be stronger with staff and students. Special ed staff is exceptional though. The PTA do a lot for the school( cultural arts programs. bookfairs, plant sales, holiday boutiques, reading programs, etc... Too bad more parents can't commit to helping with these endeavors.

I think that Martin Avenue is a great place to learn. My child is so happy here, and in fact is exceeding our expectations of what we thought that they would be learning for this year. It seems as though some people with personal issues are hurting the rating of a great school, on this website. Anyone nowadays with internet access can bash schools, restaurants, etc. due to one bad experience and then blanket an institution with a bad reputation. Maybe this parent should put their energy toward scheduling a meeting with the administrative staff, or teacher to resolve any issues. 'TLC' is given at home. Also, love, confidence, stability and nurturing for a child's confidence is sowed at home. Perhaps instead of passing the buck for poor academic performance/behavior, parents should take some responsibility for sending in a well-prepared student, ready to learn.

The principal lacks a backbone and fails to lead. he is also very timid. No extra curricular activities.PTA meetings are like pitty parties lots of talk to get things done but seldom does.

Martin Ave. school is a new school with lots of spirit. The teaching staff is amazing and really gives a personal touch to the individuals needs. They use alot of hands-on and center based learning which really gives the teacher and the students a chance to build trust and confidence which is key to the learning experience. My children love to go to school and that to me says alot.
