I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT AT FIRST I WAS VERY DISCOURAGE BY THE SCHOOL BUT I HAVE CHANGED MY MIND. I THANK THE PRINCIPAL FOR HIS QUICK THINKING AND ACTIONS, MY SON WAS ABLE TO GO FORWARD AND NOW HIS A HAPPY CAMPER IN THE 7TH GRADE.
the school's great and has nice teachers. i love most of the teachers and the principals are great, the kids are really nice too.
My daughter just started junior high school and it has been nothing but problems after problems.. You have teachers that care and other teachers that couldn't care less. The school itself has know control over the students and the school is jus so over crowded that the kids don't have lockers, which in the end result there things are being put in a room for everyone to steal the students property.. I do not and I repeat I do not recommened this school to anyone.
This school is zawesome! Everyone there is friendly, smart, and hilarious. Some people think too much of themselves, and there are a couple of stalkers you should look out for though. :3 ~S.H 805 Class of 2012
I love M.S.101 and all the teachers. Instead of being happy to leave i'll be sad. GRADUATING CLASS OF 2013 CLASS 602
I like MS 101 because they really focus on helping the kids learn and prepare them for High School.
I am currently attending MS101 and I am the graduating class of 2011. I have been in this school since the 6th grade and ever since the 6th grade I've felt welcomed. This school gives the best education because the teachers care and take the time to make sure each student understand the material being learned. We are rewared for our achievements and when we get a break such as dances or talent shows, the teachers as well as the students make sure that that day is a day of fun. For me ELA state test I achieved a perfect score in the 6th grade and the 7th grade as well. This was all thanks to my teachers who have deavoted the time to help me. Overall I believe that this school will give your child a great middle school experience.
Amazing. The academics are rigourous and high school level & the students are friendly. There are many extra cirricular activities and sports. It is a big school with a small family enviorment. I am a graduate of Ms.101 and i have to say that there is no other place better than this school. Did i mention the area is one of the safest in the city?
MARITIME IS THE BEST SCHOOL EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! I graduated in 2009 (class of 09' whooot whooooot) The staff there is the best, the teachers help you to get the best education, and from my first day as a 5th grader to my last day as an 8th grade i have been extremely happy there. My teachers were, Ms. Gonella - English, Mr.Guerra - Math, Ms.Giannone - Social studies, Ms.Henry - Spanish, Ms.Tremberger - Science, & Mr.Weirman - Physical Education. These teachers are the absolute best and if I could, I would spend the rest of my school years in Maritime. <333333 oh & the best staff there are most definitely Ms. Harris & Ms. Tiller ! THE DANCE TEAM IS MY FAVORITE MEMORY - GO BLAZERS!
I absolutely love this school. I am a senior and I'm not looking forward to leaving. my teachers are always trying to find more effective and fun ways to teach us and M.S101 has given me many oppurtunities that I probbably wouldn't get anywhere else. our principal and vice principals are always helping and concerned about all students and their grades. I highly reccomend this school.
I am a senior at M.S.101 and i love it. The courses are taught by excelent teachers. I would recomened this school. I've been happy since my first day as a 5th grader. And i will be happy on my last day as an 8th grader.
I went to this middle school from 2001-2003 (I was in the second graduating class since its creation). Apart from finally being mentally stimulated, Maritime Academy instilled me with values and principles that stayed with me throughout high school. When high school came I moved to New Jersey and was placed in (no joke) one of the worst high schools in the state. It was extremely difficult to stay focused and college bound and avoid the many enticing vices. When I finally got to college it felt as if I was going in with my middle school education and a wasted 4 years of high school. I am now a junior at a highly respected university and I can say without a doubt say that I owe many of my successes to this school and its teachers.
I feel its a great school and it has the best teachers execpt for the music teacher besides that they are all wonderful. Ms. Gonnella is the best Ela teacher ever I wish my kids could have her in high school.
I'm attending my first year at M.S.101, and I love it. The teachers are very supportive, and always help you to reach your full potential. It offers so much, and I'm very lucky to attend this school.
My son is in the 8th grade and we have been very happy with this school. He has taken Spanish and Music for 4 yrs. Tell me.... would he get that in a Catholic school ? I think not. Don't get me wrong, I'm Catholic but why pay tuition? In addition, students have the opportunity to take Science Regents in the 7th and 8th grade. Overall I highly recommend this school.
This is a response to Gina Rivera. Dont count on finding a school in Florida as good as the ones here in NY. I moved from the bronx, spoiled by the curriculum of ps:138. i live in a family oriented city called Coral Springs. Til this day I have found an elementary school worth while but not middle and struggling with high school. This is forcing me to move back to NY. My childs education is all that matters. Good Luck!
i am a former student . this school has taught me so much. the principal and teachers are there for the students and push the effort for students to achive their goals.
Alot of kids come through those doors on the first day and many of them you will remain with for the next four years. The work is going to be difficult I speak from experience. But the best thing to do is find friends then it will be easier. There are so many reasons to love the school. The thing you must remember is that the school is its own little community. So your first months you will feel awkward but you fall into place. If you do your work and maintain good grades there are rewards. Many teachers help the students and plan several clubs, teams, and after school activities. Also as a senior you will get to have special days and trips, seniors always have a snowball fight. The former students always come back and visit so you will see high schoolers wandering the hallways or in classes.
This school is a blessing! I would encourage every parent whose child is chosen, to take this great opportunity. The assignments and projects will sometimes require parents help. Which can make great family time. I just love their forum style of teaching. I think its the best way to prepare our children for the best High Schools & colleges. My Total appreciation to Mrs. Hewitt & the entire school staff. Betty Monahan
