Found the school to be an amazing Blue Ribbon School! Both my children attended P.S. 222 and my daughter graduated this year. I have no regrets. The students have a wholesome environment in which to play and learn, with teachers and staff who are genuinely interested in their success. I would recommend this school to any parent.

I must agree with previous comment. I had bad experiences with the school staff. Some of the teachers are unresponsive and rude. My child is graduating this year and thankfully, I don't have to send my daughter there ever again. Ms. Hanley needs to take some lessons in "how to interact with parents politely". Overall, I'm dissatisfied with the school.

THE WORST SCHOOL EVER!!!! IF YOU WANT QUALITY EDUCATION AND "THE BEST FOR YOUR CHILD" -- DO NOT send your kids there! Teachers are horrible. The principal VERY unresponsive. I am taking my kids out and placing them in a private school. What a shame..... Regards, disappointed mom.

So far I was not able to schedule a visit to this school as a parent. Are there any tips to get a tour of this school? ...other than calling the school or leaving messages to the parent coordinator.. giving it 3 stars only because I've heard great things about the school but I have no first hand information on it.

My son is in his second year at PS 222. Pre-k and now kindergarten. I couldn't be happier with the teachers and staff. Everyday, I'm excited to watch him enjoy learning. Positive reinforcement with the color chart and activities that allow him to enjoy leaning. Love the email notification from Ms. Olivieri. Agree with the school lunch review of being able to pay and get notifications online

Correction to one of the reviews below: new Principal is Theresa Olivieri and not Ms. Hanley. Ms. Hanley is the Assistant Principal. My daughter has been a student of PS 222 since 2010, she's a 3rd grader now. We cannot be happier about how Mrs. Olivieri manages the school. There are more email communications now. The school was one of the National Blue Ribbon Award recipients in 2013. We are very proud to be members of the PS 222 community.

My was in K now in first grade. I was amazed to witness day by day his progress in writhing, maths and reading. It still puzzels me, how the staff managed to make such accomplishment. what i like about the school is the diversity and the exposure of the kids to other culture, religion and ethnicity. Great school.

My daughter goes to this school. As another parent stated previously, it would be nice if the school was more tech savvy. Like with paying for lunches, we should be able to do it online. Who carries cash any more? I would also like to see emails from teachers the communication books are great when used but they seem to be used only when there is a complaint or concern. Also the security guards manning down the front doors could learn a little customer service or at least smile once in a while.

Great community feeling. Wonderful, smiling teachers. Fantastic curriculum. My 3rd grader started at P.S. 222 as a 2nd grader. He loves this school so much better than his last school. The staff communicates very well with the parents and the school is run in a very organized manner.

Yay me! This is my second round with 222 starting from scratch with Pre-K....I couldn't be more happy to welcome the new Principal Ms. Hanley, whom we have known since our first day of school back in 222. She taught my children and helped strengthen my son in his areas of "need"...Couldn't be a better person to lead the school...The main office ladies, Mrs. Camisa is a GEM, The PA (Dianne) and everyone from there on....I am so happy my children are starting their academic life at 222 and will follow in their older siblings footsteps....BRAVO 222 community!! You have us for ANOTHER 6 years!!! ;-)

My daughter is a first-grader at PS 222. Her kindergarten year was perfect. She was an ESL student who spoke no English at all when she first started. Her teacher was great and helped her make the transition to English as smooth as possible. By mid year she was communicating freely with her peers and succeeding a great deal in her studies. The first grade has been also great so far. She definitely learned a lot. Her reading and math skills improved immensely. The school staff is very courteous and polite. They communicate with parents often. I wish they were more tech-savvy, for I'd like to be able to communicate with a teacher via email. There is an after school program on premises which is very convenient. School is also a location for a summer camp (hosted by Working Parents Alliance). SWe can't wait for summer to begin - my daughter is very excited to go back to the camp this year.

I remember leaving this school because of switching classes. Its been awhile, so I'm sure they cleaned up their act (about 12 years now? Wow time flies...) Anyway, the administration itself was a mess: I transferred here when my parents moved from Queens. They had 7 different 'levels' of classes depending on where they believed their students belonged in (which is a rubbish idea to begin with. They're just causing a self-fulfilling prophecy) Instead of giving me some sort of test or evaluation, they simply placed me in the lowest class. After 2 months of being too easy, they transferred me to the hardest class. I had 2 days to catch up on a whole years worth of material. They had a test, and I barely passed. They threw me out after the 3rd day. What did they expect?!? I got placed in the 4th class. I don't remember what class was like, only that it was one of the worst 3 months of my life. I was bullied every day because of the fact I was Jewish (which was ridiculous considering 1/4 of the class was). The administration didn't care. I couldn't even transfer out, so I was forced to go to private schools (which were all junk).

I am so ecstatic my son is attending PS 222. He is zoned for PS 207 which I am very happy he is not there. The staff in PS 207 can not compare or compete with the staff in PS 222. PS 222 has a great reputation on being one of the top schools in the area. Keep up the awesome work!

It is such a great chance for us, we are living close by PS 222. By the way my doughters are the students of PS 222. Our school has exprienced education stuff, from main office till directorate. All the teachers are fullfill of humanity. In their classrooms my doughters feel the warm of their sweet home. There are modern education methods are performed in the school. Also, Parent coordinator of the school shows a great performance to strengthen parents relationship.

This school is a wonderful learning environment for my little sister. The teachers and other staff are caring and will go out of their way to contact you if a problem should arise. With the exception of one para, I would say this school deserves the 8/10 it has received.

The teachers are wonderful, the administration is better than a previous Brooklyn public school. However, I am appaled at the lack of physical education that is way below what is required by the state, limited time at the playground (once a week and often cancelled even if the weather is nice) and lack of art education. That said, my child enjoys going to school every day.

I love PS222.This is what my son said, after one term in this school. For me the teachers work extremely hard at all times. The curriculum is both fun and positively tact. The level of discipline is one of the best in the district and the surroundings are well taken care of.Interaction between parent and teachers is amazing. One of the best parent coordinators in the district -Miss.Camisa-hats off to her job well done.Thank you so much PS222 one of the best!

The lack of physical education and oppressive environment of the lunch room are both drawbacks. The teachers my daughter has had for kindergarten and this past year for first grade have been very good. I'm quite pleased with the reading and writing but find the math curriculum confusing and wanting. Given what they have to work with, the teachers do a nice job.

I have three children who attend this school. I love the education that they are getting. It Is evident the teachers and administration are all committed to exellence. they care about each child and they know each child. Anytime I have asked a teacher about one of my children they will tell me specifics about that child, not a general report on the class. It shows me that they really take the time to get to know each individual child in the class. As far as the administration Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Olivieri, and Ms. Snow are all always there when you need to speak to them, and they are respectful to parents concerns. The education that is provided at this free Public School is priceless.

I moved to this area because of the school's reputation 10 years ago. As a teacher, I see a few areas which can be improved. I especially take issue with the lack of physical education and a full-time computer teacher. I see many other schools, which have excellent phys ed and computer programs in place. Kudos to the Millenium Program and Music & Arts programs.

I am pleased to inform other parents and students that PS 222 is a school that I would highly recommend. My son entered PS 222 in the 3rd grade after coming from a private school. We were concerned with the transition and whether he would continue to thrive as well as adjust. He did extremely well and had a fantastic teacher who he had for two years consecutively. He is now in Jr High and adapting well (even though I don't know if I am). Let me also say that the principal Ms. Blake was truly wonderful and approachable which for us meant alot. We are still receiving information from PS 222 PTA which I also appreciate wholeheartedly.

I am a product of catholic school and was nervous about public school. PS 222 has changed any thoughts that I had about public schools. The teacher and staff are phenomenal, the parents are more like family than fellow parents. We have an excellent group of students. No discipline problems and well rounded children are coming out of this school. I am proud to be a 222 parent.

P.S. 222 is an excellent school, staffed by people who truly care about what they do. I myself attended this school, and I am proud to be sending my older daughter....the school is consistently on top, and I couldn't be happier. My younger daughter will follow her big sister in a year and a half! I especially love the way the Kindergarten Eagle II class is shaping my daughter's learning. The students are motivated to set their own goals and achieve to their highest potential.

I've had kids in PS222 starting in 1997. The school has consistently been great even with the change of principal and assistant principals, and the turmoil of Bloomberg's reforms. Each year we are so pleased with our teachers that we can't imagine having a better one, until the next year when we feel the same way again. One of my kids has a developmental disability for which he has a 1:1 classroom para, plus speech and occupational therapies all at PS222. We couldn't be happier with the individuals who work with him, and the continuity and support he has received through the years. Since 9/11 PS222 has had limited funding and staffing for PE, music & arts, but has managed to fit some in, and we appreciate it.

I have had three sons go to this school (all in the districts Eagle II program). Although I have some concerns about the turnover of principals in recent years and the disolution of the district office responsible for the gifted program, it appears that the academic rigor has been maintained. I see a renewed dedication to maintaining the arts programs as the school's band has been reinstated (with students auditioned and then instructed in flute, coronet, trumpet, trombone, and percussion). Within the Eagle program - students have been adequately prepared and therefore excelled in all standardized testing areas. I was disappointed when the school discontinued their participation as a Magnet School for Distance Learning as their computer resources have probably gone without proper updating and maintainance as a result. Still they have a working computer lab and classroom computers. Children graduate well-prepared for middle school. Building could be better cared for.

My daughter attends P.S. 222 for the last 2 years (Pre-K and K) and it's been a wonderful experience for my family. School is very clean (especially comparing to my older kids private school) and well organize. Safety and discipline in the high level. Both teachers my daughter had were absolutely amazing and highly skilled. I am very pleased with my daughter progress, who is reading chapters books and writing book reports. I would definitely recommend this school.

I think there should be more parent involvement. Since 9/11 they don't allow the parents in the school as much as they used to for security reasons. I think that's to bad because the children (I know my children) love when parents come to the school for class parties, etc.

I have two children that attend P.S. 222 the eldest child is in the Eagle program and the youngets is in a conclusion class. Both children have progressed very well. Based upon their homework, classwork and projects all are aligned to the state curriculum and standards and have prepared my children to meet those standards while having positive and rich academic and social experiences.

My son is in Pre-K and I am delighted with his teacher as well as the social skills he is developing. In my son's class each child has a special day once a month. On that day they assist the teacher with the calendar by counting the days, preparing the weather calendar, etc. The parent(s) of that child are encouraged to come and help out in class. I have enjoyed my time in class and think this is a great way for parents to get involved and see what occurs during the school days. This school does a lot to encourage parents to participate. I'm glad my son is in this school and highly recommend it.

I am the parent of a 7 year-old second grader. Living in Marine Park, we couldn't be more pleased and fortunate that she has the benefit of going to PS 222. Her learning experience has been extraordinary. She loves to go to school and can't wait to learn new ideas. It is apparent that PS 222 is building a solid foundation for my daughter to continue her education beyond the required grade levels. We are hoping my son, soon to be of school-age, will benefit as well from the experience had by his sister. NYC school officials need to and must support programs that ensure the level of education received at schools like PS 222 for the future of our children and country.

There are different programs in the school that cover all aspects of learning. While each child may not receive a full year of extracurricular activities there is a chance for all to be part of something. There is no favoritism and everyone is made to feel important. There seems to be plenty of parent involvement, however, there are plenty of parents that do not get involved. The teachers seems to make each child feel extra special. I have heard parents complain about different aspects but it seems to be on more of a personal level than an overall complaint with the school.
